This is a wonderful WW1 experience that covers so many aspects of the western front that I can't mention them all. Gabriel is a great tour guide and historian who knows pretty much everything there is to know about the Australians and NZ's on the Western front in France . If you had a relative who fought in France he... More

Olivier meet us at the train station and we immediTely got under way. There were 4 people in our tour and we were all comfortably seated in the van. Olivier uses a headphone set and a Samsung tablet. The tablet is used throughout the day to show historical photos but most interestingly showed our present day travels transposed on to... More

Olivier crafted a thorough and highly informative tour for my father and me when we came to visit the battlefields of the Somme to learn more about my grandfather's experience in WW1. He was extremely knowledgable about the strategy and positioning of the military units, but also added insights about the local history, culture, and architecture that made the whole... More

When we knew we would be visiting the battlefields of France I decided to give a present to my husband, Malcolm, a private tour with Olivier. It was to trace his grandfather's journey during WWI and also to find out where and under what circumstances he was awarded his two Military Medals. After a full and very informative day with... Having booked this tour in Australia we were a little aprehensive. Chemins D Histoire and Olivier Dirson are wonderful. We sent Olivier information regarding the movements of the regiment and Olivier having researched this history presented the tour in a most precise and enthusiastic manner. i was most impressed with the use of GPS data overlayed with the trench maps... Olivier is an excellent tour guide and we learned much from him on our full day tour. Our tour was very personalised as Olivier's other customers for the day had cancelled. We covered a vast area at a very comfortable pace. Olivier's passion and knowledge was matched by his capacity to inform. We stopped for lunch in a charming village... More

We had a very informative tour of the battlefields. Oliver was very knowledgeable. Oliver made the tour personal for us by finding my husband great uncle's name on the missing list where we got to lay some poppies. We where very happy with the tour and would recommend this tour to Australians.

Olivier is an excellent, well informed guide for the Somme Battlefields. Most of his clients seem to be Australian and he slants his tour a bit in that direction. That said, as Americans we still felt we got a really good explanation and view of where and when things happened. His English is excellent as is his analysis. The Newfoundland... More

Olivier's passion for this tour and the knowledge that he passed onto my wife Linda and I made for an unforgettable and moving experience. We were aware of the Australian presence in the Somme during WW1 but not the level of involvement and loss of life experienced by these brave young men. Truly amazing accounts given by Olivier at every... More
