This place was like a Disney theme park. we entered the car park and saw the huge crowds just walking towards the place.
During this covid pandemic we were not happy that any social distancing or any preventative measures were in place, so we decided to leave the car park, we had not even stopped the car. we got to the barrier and it demanded 14.20 euros, i spoke to the information centre who just said you have to pay we explained that we had only been there for 3 minutes and wanted to leave as it was too busy and not safe but they were adamant you pay. DISGUSTING any other car park allows you to drive out within 5 minutes if you have made a mistake this is just a money making machine.

The whole experience near mont saint michel was very bad! Tourist trap with unfriendly staff in restaurants arriving 14.15 and having the flexibility to offer lunch. Busses that are driving up and very full, they don’t seem to keep the max number in mind. I definitely recommend going to another place in France..

We found the entire logistics terribly organised. I cannot think of a reason why our dog would not be allowed on the shuttle bus. We came early to avoid the heat and expected to be able to take the bus back. I asked politely and explained the driver, that our dog was getting quite hot and I was worried for her, but he blatantly refused. This is such an unfriendly experience and so ridiculous!!!
Next to that, we got there early in the morning and got directed to the parking spot all the way at the back, while there were many free spots more toward the front of the walking route to the Mont.
Ps: even people who were knee deep covered in clay could enter the bus. So it makes no sense. Our dog is hypoallergenic and does not shed nor smell.

On approaching the shuttle we were barked at by a man in an orange jacket that no dogs were allowed on the shuttles. We turned around went back to our car and left. Very disagreeable. If you plan on taking your dog please allow time to walk the 4km...Shame.

The ladies working there were very nice and patient with our questions. They let us know that the shuttle bus is free to Mont St. Michel. They also said most restaurants and shops are closed during slow season when I asked for recommendations. Very true that most parts of Mont St. Michel were closed. The washrooms are clean and spacious. The centre was filled with informative dioramas about Mont St. Michel and other tourist areas like Brittany and Normandy. They made the experience very positive.
Merci beaucoup!

Upon arrival at the island and before walking to the right onto the main street, Grand Rue, I found the only public restrooms straight ahead of me (there are none in the Abbaye), and then found this hidden gem, the tourist center, to the left where I was able to purchase my Abbaye tickets. Completely avoided the lines. Then to access the Abbaye, I continued to walk to the left of the tourist information center and up the hill. In this way, I was able to avoid the crowds walking and entering from the main street. A great way to start my visit. Thanks to the gals in the TI for their help.

A day tour is always a good choice for visiting a place nearby a major city for solo travel, or couple and family. This time in Paris, I chose the day tour to Mont Saint Michel day tour organised by Paris City Vision. The cost is about €170 per person. You can buy day-tour tickets on their website, through Trip Advisor or at the tourist information center at Gare du Nord. You can also go the their ticket center which is located near the Louvre. There are always discount if you buy tickets at the center. So if you will visit Louvre any way, u should go buy ticket there. The address if 2 Rue des Pyramides.
Back to the day tour. The coach is very comfortable. This is important as the round trip takes a total of about 8 hours. The day tour departs at 7:15 am, quite early. Then it arrives at a restaurant at Mont Saint Michel for a lunch. The lunch is included in the tour fees but it is not very good. After all if is for group tour, you can’t complain. After the lunch, tourist guide will lead you up tot the chapel of Mont Saint Michel. All the way up with detail introduction of the place and its history. The guided walk is about 1.5 hours. Then you have a free tie of about one hour to take a look of a “village” there. The village is mainly a souvenir street but worth seeing. Altogether the visit is about 4 hours at Mint Saint Michel. Then it’s the return trip to Paris. We arrived at Paris at about 9 pm.
The day tour takes altogether 14 hours but you are b Mint Saint Michel for only about 4 hours.

We took a flixbus from Paris to Mont Saint Michel. It is very reasonable and allows you 4 hours to visit the abbey (plenty of time!). Have the mussels and beer while you are there. We had mussels in Paris, Brussels and the ones at Mont Saint Michel were by far the best!!

Not only did the bus trip afford us a trip through Normandy and the country side of France, it brought us to one of the most wonderful sites France has to offer.
It is huge and should have a warning over 300 steps to the top. Should be expected but we saw some couples struggling.
We were skeptical at first about the visit to Mont Saint Michel. So glad we went to visit. It was a wonderful place with beautiful views and steeped in history. Loved it and you can’t miss it!
