We went for the Modigliani exhibition in June. The queuing and ticketing system was bizarrely confusing and incomprehensible. Once in, the exhibition was far too crowded to the point where it was difficult to view without people getting in the way. The permanent displays were by contrast quiet and interesting. Getting there by public transport is not straightforward especially when... More

We went to see the Modigliani exhibit, which was nice. We had bought tickets online for a certain time slot and had expected the number of people inside to be limited by the space available. No such thing. In fact there was a crowd of people waiting outside (in the rain) without tickets, and it was so crowded inside that... More

Visited the Modigliani exhibition whilst in Lille. Not a huge fan of Modigliani but appreciated the curation of the displays, the opportunity to see his work 'in the flesh'. Aso enjoyed looking at the other areas of the gallery. The sculptures in the grounds include a Picasso. Certainly an interesting and attractive place.

At weekends you can book a ticket and shuttle bus from the tourist office to the Modigliani exhibition and avoid the queue for tickets and the difficulties of getting there by public transport. The Modigliani exhibit is great but the remainder of the museum is fairly limited and can be covered in an hour both inside and outside in the... More

The museum is really worth a visit but it gets really crowded. Go there early, get your tickets on line or the wait can be really long. The museum collection is broad and very interesting, especially the Art Brut section. Too bad the museum employees get overwhelmed by the number of visitors so we couldn't have a audio guide, and... The Modigliani exhibition was on and there were queues to get in. Loads of French schoolchildren going round as well. The issue is that the collector on whose collection the museum was founded bought Modigliani because he could not afford Chagall. Picasso painted over one of Modigliani's works and felt guilty - so he went out and bought another of... More

We went to Lille to visit the Modigliani exhibition and were not disappointed. It is very well organized, with lots of information, and a nice range of paintings. It is perfect in size. Of course it is crowded, but that's to be expected. Be prepared to spend some time, and try to get your tickets beforehand, you will have to... More

The museum had organised a special exhibition on Modigliani's works hence we went! Personally, as my exposure to art is quite limited, I found the exhibition very well done, as it succeeded in peaking my interest in this subject, and encouraged me to crave for more! I was lucky as the day we visited was a beautiful sunny day, hence... More

Paris has some of the world's best museums also some of the most expensive. Not here. Though some shows may carry a fee the main exhibition halls are free. Even so there never seem to be crowds. A special show of. Berlin artist Paula Modersohn Becker was an eye opener. Perhaps sensing she was to have a short life, she... More

We went to this museum LAM because of its current Modigliani exhibition which shouldn't be missed. The permanent collection has modern and contemporary works and a fascinating section of 'Art Brut'. The museum is set in a park where there are a number of modern sculptures, including a wonderful Calder. It is in the outskirts of Lille, but can be... More
