The town of Roubaix is dreary on a normal day, but on a rainy day it was much worse. Not much to do or to see, almost nobody in town can direct you to La Manufacture. Nobody seemed to be able to tell us where this museum was - about a mile out of town along some interesting Flemish roads. Excellent Museum if you are interested in WW1.You can access the computers in there to trace any relatives that may have been involved in the war.

This musum in an old weaving factory is out of the way but well worth finding, with weaving looms from the 18th century up to now. You can go by bus (no 20 from near the town hall square) but my friend and I preferred to walk - in case we got off at the wrong stop and got lost!... More

the manufacture is situated in actual factory rooms. the guided tour was excellent. it covered the history of the looms from the middle ages to today. the evolution of the techniques.
