The place to be in Arras really. Lovely big square, surrounded by beautiful architecture. There are restaurants, cafes and bars all around the square, a lovely place to sit and people watch. They have a market on a Wednesday morning and we discovered, much to...More

It was quite a nice experience to see how this area was rebuilt after wW2 to look authentic to the original time period it was built.

I visited on a bright sunny day. The buildings were beautiful & the square surrounded by eateries of all varieties. Well worth having a look when you're in the town.

Quiet during the day when we visited (a Sunday) but by 7pm packed with locals and tourists taking in the atmosphere. Not sure how that would be on a rainy day though! A good cental spot and also where the Tourist Info office is located...More

Our accommodations were overlooking the square. Lots going on, it's nice to just sit outside one of the many dining establishments with a glass of wine and just people watch. The locals meander in the evenings, letting their dogs run around and socialize. Beautiful cobblestone...More

We were invited to share a drink by locals. The square has quite a few restaurants and there was a delightful band playing in the square later when we were eating! The architecture of the buildings is very interesting, you can clearly see the Belgium...More

One of the squares in the old part of Arras. A beautiful old square that was rebuilt as it was after WW1. About 80% of Arras was destroyed during WW1 so rebuilt. The area is cobbled and is lined with shops, patisseries, cafes and restaurants.

We had an overnight stay in Arras and really enjoyed sitting in the Square watching the world go by. It was very busy with locals eating and drinking. This is a great town for a stopover on your way South.

There are lots of restaurants and several will surely be open Monday afternoon, though I cannot guarantee it. The old centre of Arras is picturesque, lots to see.
