Don't just drive over the bridge. Stop at the tourist centre once you have crossed the bridge heading towards Millau or even go into the village down below and look up at the tallest point, it is breathtaking.

To appreciate the bridge, first visit the town, to see the old route taken by the travellers in the past. There are good views of the bridge too, from the old crossing, as well as places to eat. We used the underground car park while...More

When viewing the viaduct be sure to drive into Millau to get a sense of the scale of the project and the reasons for it. Then drive back out of the town the way you came in and drive over the viaduct itself. It is...More

It's worth a detour to drive across the Millau Viaduct or bridge, designed by Norman Foster - with its 7 beautiful, sail-like spans. Driving from Collioure toward Nimes, the detour took about an extra hour. It's close enough to continue toward Nimes and the Pont...More

"What's so special about another bridge in France?", was what I was thinking when my husband and friends waxed poetic about visiting Millau. I was far more interested in touring the cheese caves in nearby Roquefort. They insisted it was considered one of Europe's newest...More

Drove underneath the bridge - went to the visitors centre - interesting exhibition showing the way in which the bridge was constructed. About half an hour from the town - also worth a visit - very quaint - still a fair amount of traffic goes...More

Well, the viaduct is indeed amazing, one of the greatest architectural pieces of the last decade! But what is also amazing is the region. Too many people just pass by on the motorway without visiting the region around Millau: the French department of Aveyron. This...More

Barcelona to Millau by car (or minivan) is a 4 hour trip one way. Unless your group is totally into great engineering feats only I wonder if you would not like to extend your trip to include the (reconstructed) middle age... More

What public transportation uses the Millau Bridge as part of its route? Whether it's a bus or train, (from what town), I would live to be on it.

No idea. Maybe long distance buses. Not trains. I was actually disappointed when we later drove over it as you can't see anything from car
