the viaduc of Millau is a real chef d'oeuvre it's a huge impressive structure of a suspended bridge between 2 big hills near the gorges du Tarn the view is overwhelming and the city of Millau is old and very interesting it's the capital of manufacturing of gloves with narrow old streets and a new commercial center.

We stopped off here as we drove past, it's a lovely grand bridge and certainly worth a ten minute break to properly appreciate if you're driving past! And I'm sure if you're staying nearby it's very much worth the trip too!

It is not an everyday event for most people to see such a beauty made by mankind. Well we don't make many of these. The bridge is a fascinating work of engineering and an incredible sensation to walk under it. Even better is to drive across it, when it's foggy. One gets an eerie feeling of flying above mountains. The... More

Great work by Sir Norman Foster's team. The viaduct looks like an enormous modern sailing ship. A must see. However beware of the information center and shop. About the viaduct itself one can either buy a silly cheap little leaflet for € 2, it's not even worth it, or a photo book for € 49 (!!) or a dvd for... More

We drove down the autoroute to see the bridge and drive over it. We stopped at the rest area/viewing area just before the bridge on the North side. Not a great spot to see it so we carried on over the bridge. You cannot stop on the bridge or see much over the side. We came off at the next... More

Beautifully designed, amazing architectural feat against a backdrop of gorgeous countryside. We added almost an hour and a half to our itinerary to Spain to take this motorway instead, just to see this, and were not disappointed. If you're in a hurry, I would recommend going just before sunset so that you can get photos from the highway rest stop.

The Millau Viaduct is a cable-stayed bridge that spans the valley of the River Tarn near Millau in southern France. An absolutely jaw dropping edifice. Well worth a day trip just to see it and drive over it.
