The walk here itself is beautiful. It's not the easiest of climbs but there were small children doing it and people of the older generation. Take water for the walk. You can top up once you get to the lake. You will get very hot during the walk so wear little and get your sun cream on . Not to... More

I went to visit pont d'espagne n carried on 500m upwards towards this gorgeous lake. On top of the mountains it was peaceful (even with a few people there) little cafe/bar up there was cute. Mountains r just amazing n from the parking took about 1hr n a bit on a fair pace. I recommend to all nature lovers even... More

We took the 2 cable cars from the big Parking area because it was drizzling. The 1st base is near to Pont d'Espagne, so when you return from the lake take the cable to only base one, and from there walk to see the bridge and then to the parking area. The walk to the lake from 2nd base is not... This is an amazing lake, alpine in its look. Beautiful setting with stunning mountains all around it and easily approachable using a cable car (the adventurers can also trek up, with nicely laid paths). Don't miss!

By foot (about 3 hours chemin des cascades), by car (payable parking place nearby) or by local bus from Cauterets (€4.5) go on a sunny day. Check local village webcam to choose the best day. Apply sunscreen and go for a picnic, everything can be bought in the center of the village. From the telecabin you will reach the lake... More

We went up the ski lift and then an easy walk to the café for lunch or coffee. We then painted for 4 hours, but you could go on walking for another 4 hours up to the Refuge and back.

Lac de Gaube is our favourite easy hike with magnificent views in Haute-Pyrénées Park. If you are lucky to come in a sunny day, you'll be rewarded with a beautiful glacial lake views that turns into different shades of blue and green. Come and get inspired by the beauty of unspoiled nature. Highly recommended!!

We travelled up to the lake on the chair lift which is in its self an experience and takes about 12 minutes (there is a small charge). There is then a fairly easy 15 minutes walk to the lake which, when you see it, is astounding. Have a drink at the hostelry and soak up the atmosphere. The lake is... More

Marvelous lake , surronded by majestic cliffs all around. The site itself is well prepared to cater to all kind of visitors. One can hike all the way up to the lake or take 2 lifts and get there without too much effort. The lake itself was smooth like a mirror and clear .

We had the luck of coming on a bright sunny day and enjoyed our hike up and down from lake gaube. If you've come this far don't stop at the lovely but easy pont d'espagne but continue an hour up to the lake. The hike itself is wonderful with great views. It is not very difficult but might get tricky... More
