Ancient bridge accessible on foot. half an hour from the city centre, but if you arrive in Céret by car you are sure to pass in front of it.

Whilst the bridge is a quick visit. ..ceret is a lovely mountain town. Come ob a tuesday night in the summer months for the evening market. Good selection on restaurants and enough to keep you occupied.

Easy to find and easy to build into a walk around Ceret. Great views of the river and surrounding landscape.

The bridge was built in the Middle Age, and today only pedestrians are allow to cross it. What is truly amazing is that when you or I step down from its sidewalk to its "street", you can feel the bridge vibrating?!! If we hadn't know about the age of the bridge, we would probably not have dared crossing it.
Today Céret only has one "modern" bridge leading out of town, but a second one is scheduled to be build within the next 3-5 years.

This medieval bridge ha an enormous span and rises high over the River Tech, a truly amazing engineering achievement. Stand on the highest point and look down at the shallow river underneath. Look West to see the modern road bridge, then past that to the old railway bridge, itself a masterpiece in stone. Ceret is reputed for its three bridges, but if you look further to the West, where the river bends, you can just make out the lower section of the stone Roman bridge of which the majority of the inhabitants are unaware.
The railway bridge, its original purpose long gone, still has the railway track with a small trolley used for moving the equipment for the bungee jumping that takes place there during the summer.
Le Pont du Diable is a national monument, and rightly so.

A beautifully preserved bridge commanding great views over the River Tech. Below are inviting walk-ways along the river bank, leading to swimming points in unspoilt places. From the bridge you can walk into the historic centre of Ceret or up a hillside path leading to the historic Ermitage de St Ferreol with its high vantage point over the town and views stretching from the coast to the hills bordering Spain.

It is one of the three bridges into Céret (one other road and one old railway)but the oldest by quite a few centuries. Its only a 5 minute visit time but you get a nice view of the River Tech, Céret and the other two bridges including an attractive disused railway bridge sometimes used for bungee jumping. Interesting story how it got its name but you will have to visit to find out!
