Having been to many galleries and museums around the world I have to say this was awful. The staff were rude and dismissive and incredibly unhelpful. The English guide is a piece of A3 paper, one side! What information is available is French, however most pieces have zero information. Avoid.

With so much hype about this Mecca of Cubism, I was expecting more than 5 small rooms. Some beautiful pieces on display, but did not justify the 3 hour round trip to get to Céret.

When we visited the museum it was being renovated, so instead of 15 rooms there were only 5. We were informed before entering and offered a discount. Basically they had taken a seletion of the very best pieces and exibited them in five rooms. It was almost overwhelming seeing so much art in such a small space. Definitely worth a... More

This is a nice little art museum that mainly shows works done by artists who lived in Ceret at one time or another. Many famous artists apparently fell in love with the town including Picasso and other well know impressionists. I particularly liked the room dedicated to Picasso's bowels and pottery which were painted with scenes of bull fighting. This... More

I was disappointed. Expected a lot more due to reviews that I had read. Lots of "dark" impressionist paintings. Nice display of picasso's painted bowls, but can't believe we went way out of our way to see this. Perhaps the problem was that there were no current exhibits. Nice bathroom. Ceret is a very charming city, and we really enjoyed... More

The Museum was well laid out easy to follow and lots of room, although could have been a few more benches in the rooms to sit on...plenty of room for wheelchair goers...lots of people taking photos of the exhibition pieces...when leaving after having a pleasant hour I wanted to take a picture of the poster on the door,a rather rude woman... We have known Ceret since 1987 and knew its place in art history as one of the birth places of Cubism. Ceret has this wonderful modern art museum in the centre of the town which is well worth visiting. On our latest visit we enjoyed the exhibition about Maria-Helena Vieira da Silva.

This gallery is a must for lovers of early 20th century art. Matisse, Picasso, Braque etc are to be seen in the regular displays. Furthermore, their seasonal exhibitions put larger galleries into the shadows. The most recent one we saw was the dynamic Spaniard Plensa whose vast range of ideas and size are breath-taking. A few years ago, mother held a... More

I really enjoyed this small town and the museum of modern art. Works by Chagall, Matisse, Picasso and Miro amongst others. Most of the work is by artists who spent time in Ceret and many donated works to the museum. Many of the pieces featured in the museum depict the Massif (or Pic) de Canigou which isn't surprising as this... More

We stopped at this town to see the Devil's Bridge and had no idea that we would also find this lovely art gallery. When we visited it was featuring the works of Jaume Planca and we would recommend that you allow at least three hours including the 60 minute documentary about Planca and his global projects.
