Regional wines to taste and buy (for very little money) One of those Mediterranean Seaside Resorts that you stumble across, then years later remember when you get there again. Now it does have a Beach - a very good Blue Flag one - and it has markets and proximity to the Spanish border (La Perthus / Le Jonquera) and plenty of other places close to visit, but Hey this review is about a ...BAR?
Well ... YES... and this 'Bar' happens to be virtually open air, beneath those massive umbrella-type covers the French use. The 'Bar' faces the Roundabout so close to the beach that you can easily just 'Accidentally' stroll there and sit and try all the regional wines... mostly straight from the Vat. If you want to buy Bottles, you can do that too, but the Glasses of Wine are so cheap that you will soon find that you need more time to work your way along the shelves... and the Vats...
Now a lot of them are sort of sweet to medium, but they are all something like 15% - 17% proof, and more resemble Port, or Madeira... but better than your usual (spit it on the floor) Supermarket stuff. There are also some very nice dry wines - also pretty potent, so take it easy there...
I suggest if you want to do it, then you plan a night or two at either of the very close Camp-sites, so that you are in crawling distance of a bed and dry location...
When you have found your favourite... believe... you can take an empty water bottle (from the local supermarket, or Pepsi/Coke bottle) and the guys behind the bar will sell you a litre from just a couple of Euros...(Yeah! we took bigger bottles too) ... But then, what is a euro or two between new-found friends), and we also took a couple of bottles home to try again.
Magic, and when you first saw it - you thought it was for the local 'Down-and-outs? Well what is it like to be one of them... One advantage is that it does look like a 'Tramps' bar, so you may get to it easily... and cure your sobriety peacefully without any troubles etc...
Already planning a revenge trip... can't let it beat me...
ps: for those James Bond fans reading this... who are still searching for the missing ingredient for the 'Vodka Martini... or the Vesper'... I found a few bottles of Lillet in the supermarket by the Roundabout...Shhhhhh!!! don't tell everyone... I want to go back again, but I want to get to the bar without queuing...

This wine cooperative is probably the cheapest and most popular bar in town. It is located at the main intersection, one block off of the central beach plaza. It is a great place for people watching. The drinks are cheap. Bring an empty water bottle like the French do and buy local wines directly from the tap for less than two euros per liter. We liked both the red and the rose wines. We also recommend trying a Monaco (made with Grenadine syrup).
We always like to support small local businesses, and we felt that our money here went to support just this type of establishment. This is not the flashiest, trendiest place in town; but for a relaxed drink in a low-key setting, this place is hard to beat.

Local wines, local beer, great prices. Very relaxing sitting outside watching the world go by. Funny closing times though so before 1 pm and after 4. Unpretentious and unusual.
