Me and my girlfriend (both 18) attempted to visit the top of the Arche but were turned away on the basis that we were both children (?). I attempted to purchase a full fare ticket as well thinking that it might be a quirk of their system but the lady at the desk was totally uncompromising. Wasted journey.

It is impressively big. We slept very close to the arc. Honestly it is in the middle of a suburb with no great personality and even if it is an architectural masterpiece it’s a little bit lost in the big esplanade.

The view even from the steps up to the Arche are great. You can buy an entry ticket to go to the top.
At at the time of writing, there was some building work in the area (new metro station I believe), so that may spoil the view a bit.

I didn't like the Grand arch or La Defense district itself on my first visit to Paris 17 years ago. Stone jungle. This metaphor of the screenwriter of the movie "Tarzan's adventures in New York" was quite suitable for La Defense. Maybe it was because I was on a hot July day, or maybe La Defense really was like that back then, It is not for nothing that it is called the Manhattan of Paris. After visiting Paris several times, I came up with the idea to show my daughter La Defense. We arrived in the evening when the sun was setting. After getting off at the Pont Neuilly station and crossing the bridge over the Seine, we went to the Grand arch. The sun was setting behind the creation of the Danish architect Johan Otto von Spreckelsen, illuminating the bizarre sculptures, the meaning of which I didn`t understand. Skyscrapers were reflected in each other's mirrored surfaces. No one was in a hurry. The evening La Defense was not a place for office plankton, but for ordinary Parisians who came to wet their feet in the pool of the Greek sculptor Takis, dance in a group around Red spider, sit on the steps of a Large crayfish looking at the sunset somewhere in the West...La Defense.doesn`t open immediately ....

Whilst this is a bit of a journey from the other tourists attractions it is well worth a visit for the views.

It is in La Defense which is commercial / business area. There is a shopping centre near by and places to eat and drink.

You get to the viewing gallery by a glass lift which goes up the middle of the arch.

Before you go outside there is a good exhibition which explains the history a s building of the arch.

The viewing galley gives excellent views across the city and you can get good photos of the Eiffel Tower.
The viewing gallery has now for sun loungers so you can sit and relax whilst enjoying the view.
There is a cafe and gift show.

I have visited before and would do so again just for the views.

There are also excellent views of the arch itself from the steps either side where you can sit and relax or people watch !

This is a cool spot but not worth the train ride unless your staying in the area. There was however, a fantastic Christmas market here!

It was the first time to hear about it and I visited it in my last hours in Paris. This is a more modern location in Paris, specifically, La defense business district. This location has a different modern sense relative to the famous Paris downtown.

Having walked from Notre Dame to La Defense this not so modern arch was what we were aiming for. It is impressive to look at and there is a lift to view Paris from the top. All around and on the way from the Sein there is a myriad of artworks to view. A lovey walk.
