Accessible by reservation or during European Heritage days (journee patrimoine). Interesting background story for this building - parts of which were originally constructed for the Paris World Fair 1878.

Lovely building, we were lucky to be able to visit it because usually it is not opened to public. The decor is bezutiful but you can notice that it is
Old and though iy had been restored it is still in a delicate situation. The visit us short.

Located on the Boulevard Saint Denis, the building resembles a very Indian architecture. Government uses it to encourage young artists and sculptors to showcase their work.

The somewhat exotic building was originally commissioned for the 1878 World Fair. It has been moved from its original address... and has been rebuilt and recognised as a national historic monument.
The city government now uses it to encourage young sculptors & artists!!
It is also located next to an interesting Park!!

A structure with precious wood and gold motifs will give you a feel of an Indian Palace. The Pavillon des Indes is located at the entrance of the park of Bécon with historic significance. In the Pavillon des Indes museum there is a permanent exhibition as well as an accommodation for an artist in residence. The Indian Pavilion was designed by the English architect Caspar Purdon Clarke for the Prince of Wales (future King of England Edward VII).

Expectations may have been to high, but the exhibition contains very few pieces and I would not call it art, even modern. No explanations provided to try to take the visitor into the "artist" 's approach

It's a great building. It's located on the Boulevard Saint Denis right next to the Parc de Bécon. I don't know if you can go in though.

The Pavillon des Indes was built for the Universal Exposition of 1878, by the British government. Later abandonned, it was bought by the French Monuments service and has just been redone and openned to the public. It is of Indian inspiration, it houses a museum, and it also houses an artist for 18 months; he/she can expose his sculptures. This museum is free for visitation. The visits, guided, are available only once a month, plus one night visit thursday evening, again once a month. The metro station is Pont de Levallois, cross the bridge, go into the park.
