I went here in 2008 after going to Lourdes on a Pilgrimmage
May 2019
I went on a 206 tour, by myself from Rhode Island , USA. to go to Lourdes and also see St. Bernadette.. I had always wanted to see her.. and I will confess. I got someone to take a picture of me with her.. I was kneeling and looking at her.. I told the nun when I left that I was so happy to be there, and that she was a Sleeping Beauty.. .. there were all these girls that came in with their phones, smartphones.. taking video and that was definitely dis respectful and I feel like Poor Bernadette.. even though her soul is in Heaven, she knows her body is there.,the poor girl suffered very much with her illnesses.. the Bernadette and Passion of Bernadette videos are excellent..I loved Lourdes.., and someday hope to go back maybe.. If only I could learn French?? I know you can volunteer there.. I would like that.. I will never see Bernadette again.. in this world.. that was once in a lifetime and I got my photo.. and I left her a note that said 'St Bernadette,, I have always wanted to meet you in person on Earth, and now I hope to meet you in Heaven...

Fascinating visit
Sep 2019
Visiting the place where St Bernadette lived for the latter part of her life it was fascinating to walk around the convent and 'experience' her life, to some degree.

The real sleeping beauty
May 2019
I felt humble and slightly humble when I first stood in the presence of St Bernadette. I am not catholic, not religious in the sense of a church goer but fascinated in this story and the love and hope that this child gave as her life and legacy. If you ever travel to Lourdes, make this the first stop so that you can truly feel her presence and experience her legacy.

My Most Blessed 5-Year Anniversary
Sep 2018 • Solo
I had this Strong Feeling to return to visit St Bernadette again after 5 years. The Sanctuary where this little Saint lays is indeed a very Sacred Chapel. Praying here is so peaceful and my thoughts were only about what St Bernadette has meant to me and all the Pilgrims who come here and also to Lourdes where the Virgin Mary's Appearance has changed the world since 1858. I am so very thankful for the many Blessings and Graces and even Miracles that I have received from Heaven.

Memorable experience of St. Bernadette
Aug 2018 • Friends
As soon as we saw the incorrupt body of St. Bernadette Soubirous lying so serene in a glass shrine, we were simply entranced. It was an extraordinary experience which one cannot really put into words. This wonderful feeling will have an everlasting and incredible reminder for years to come.

SMALL BUT WELL DONE MUSEUM
Mar 2018 • Couples
This museum is located within the Espace Bernadette is very well done, though small and admission is free.
The museum documents Bernadette’s time while at the Convent. You will see her bag and umbrella that she carried when she arrived in July 1866. A chair that was from the day she passed in 1879 along with her vestments and other items.

The tranquil shrine of St Bernadette
Apr 2018 • Solo
I was privileged to attend Mass here and share in the atmosphere of quiet contemplation. I was impressed by the clear sincerity of the elderly priest who celebrated Mass and by the enthusiasm and reverence of the seminarian assisting at Mass. This provides a place of tranquil prayer reflecting the simplicity of Bernadette.

Life Changing!

The museum here is really incredible! You can see St.Bernadette’s clothes which show how poor and tiny she really was!You can also see the chair that St.Bernadette died in.Seeing the incorrupt body of St.Betnadette was such an emotional experience for me as well. She is more beautiful in person than you can imagine.Pictures do not do her justice at all.I was so moved when I left this Shrine that I didn’t even want to talk to anyone...it was such an overwhelming spiritual experience! They are very strict on the no pictures policy because they want to maintain the sacredness of her shrine so just be respectful and buy a postcard!

Mass and Veneration of St. Bernadette
May 2017 • Friends
After visiting Our Lady of Lourdes Sanctuary, our pilgrimage group continued on to Nevers. Here, we were blessed to have our pastor celebrate mass for us in the St. Gildard Convent chapel. Afterwards we took time to venerate St. Bernadette, spent time at the grotto, explored the small museum and shopped in the gift shop. When other bus groups arrive it can be crowded in the chapel and museum but it was quite worthwhile.

A moving emotional experience and a solemn place of reverence. Please do not take pictures as it is disrespectful
and is frowned upon.

Thank you for your comment. We are glad that you enjoyed your time in Nevers. It is always difficult to refrain people to take picture. We ask them not to, because it is a place of prayer but most of them want to keep "something" of their time here. Julitte
