Lovely part of the historical centre of Vannes
Sep 2019
Place Henry IV is little cobbled square just off the town centre, the ramparts and cathedral and is surrounded by colourful half-timbered buildings so close that their eaves almost touch, sending you straight back in time. Most of the buildings are beautifully intact with the ground floors tastefully turned into shops and the many café/restaurants. After a stroll around the square and a walk up the many small lanes it is very pleasant to sit outside one of the restaurants for a coffee or a light lunch and take in the buildings and people watch.

Lively litle square
Jul 2019 • Friends
When we visited they had buskers there and they were drawing crowds as they were so good. A lovely square surrounded by beautiful buildings.

This square is not far from the cathedral & is one of the many pretty locations in the Old Town. Lots of interesting shops in the various "houses"

Cosy part of the hystorical centre of Vannes
Mar 2019 • Couples
The little square is surrounded by colourful half-timered buildings.
There are some restaurants and little shops, it is nice to stroll through this little square as part of a walk through the old hystorical town.

Going back in time - time travel
Feb 2019 • Couples
This is a time travel experience. Walking in this square, next to the cathedral, you'd expect some knights to come dashing along on their horse, and people throwing out their garbage through the windows.

Unbelievable.

The place Henri is one of those marvels from the middle Ages. You have to share the pleasure with some others but it is still worth the visit

Stunning
Jul 2018 • Couples
Some incredibly well preserved buildings and still in use, though sadly odd ones are empty. A well preserved and vibrant city.

Cute little square
Jun 2018 • Friends
Place Henri IV is a tiny square plaza (20 by 20 metres) close to the cathedral. It is surrounded by brightly coloured half-timbered houses from the 15th and the 16th century. The ground floors are occupied by shops (a chocolate shop, a jewellery shop, a tobacconist & newsagent and a leather & umbrella shop) and, of course, the inevitable creperie. Strangely enough no regulations seemed to be imposed on the shop owners on this historic square. A bright green and white striped awning on a yellow and white half-timbered house is just too much of a good thing!

For the rest, there isn't much to see but Place Henri IV offers a nice view on the cathedral spire.
