We have been here a few times but tend to miss the busy weekends. However on our last trip we went on a Friday and Saturday so we had a great time socialising with the local sailors. We hired a car and found out more...More

The ferry was a tad expensive but the island was beautiful. We cycled around most of the island and the views were breathtaking. I would recommend taking a picnic as round the northern end of the island there are not a lot of restaurants etc....More

I visited Ile de Groix, just south of Lorient (a short, 30 minute boat ride from the town's ferry port) with some friends in April 2016. The boat takes you to Port Tudy, just NE of the main town on Groix, Le Bourg. It's a...More

This small island can be explored by bike in a day, but I recommend a longer stay to enjoy its quiet environment and thin sand beaches. There are two camping sites, but not much choice of restaurants in the area. We spent a very pleasant...More

Excellent walking trail around the coast of the island; well signposted and with fab views. Ferry from Lorient works well and is comfortable . seem to be plenty of cafes/bars to eat at, even in October. Plentiful supply of bikes available as you get off...More

Surprisingly, not many French know that this island even exists outside of Lorient. This island is a gorgeous getaway with a beautiful coastline, white sands and blue waters, blackberries growing wild all over the island, idyllic homes, brilliant for biking and long walks, beautiful landscape...More

We took day trip to island and we must say it was very relaxing. There was not much on the food choices, but a lovely walking town and awesome views on every side of island

We took a day trip from Lorient with our two teen children and decided to rent bikes for the day in Port-Tudy. We really had a wonderful day in the sun. We could not go everywhere on the bikes, but there were still more than...More

A 30 minute ferry crossing that felt like a journey back in time by 50 years. Groix is a beautiful unhurried old fashioned sort of island and well worth a day trip if you are in the area. The port area and main town are...More

The island is authentic, it gives the feeling of Brittany. We actually visited it in 2011. We took a ferry from Lorient. You can rent a bike just after arrival and I found it a great way to discover the island. You pass through nice...More

It’s very expensive (over £300) to take the car, so we left it in the port car park for a week. The car park was very busy as a lot of people have the same idea. We went as foot passengers and paid extra to take the bikes... More
