Wonderful museum, translation card in English.
Very talented artists. There are only 2 rooms but itonly costs 3€ so well worth it. Detailed paintings of sealife in mixed media

Visited Lamballe and called in to the town centre museum and although the admission is only 3 Euros it was a dissapointment. Only 2 small rooms containing bric a brac from the local area and it took approx 7 or 8 minutes to view. The building suggests it may have more to offer and another British couple thought the same as me and my wife. nothing to learn about the area.

We loved this museum devoted to the works of the Breton artist Mathurin Méheut (1882-1958), who captured the Breton folklife and landscape in his paintings and prints. We have one of his works in our collection, far away in Maryland. The museum is in an ancient half-timbered house in the historic center of Lamballe.

I absolutely love this small museum. Primarily as it is a wonderful collection of Mathurin's work and hidden away in Lamballe which is a quiet town. Mathurin's illustrations of the great war and of nature are fantastic, and i'm not aware of anywhere else you can find such a concentration. The museum is housed in an old (medieval?) building which adds to the atmosphere. Be forewarned, this is a small museum dedicated almost uniquely to this one artist, so do not expect more. Additionally, I've been by a few times only to find it closed, so check prior to going. Certainly worth the visit in my opinion!
