Our group of travelers from Canada had enjoyed the day visiting Mont-Saint-Michel and we finished our day by going for a hike around Pointe du Groin. This marks the westernmost tip of the Bay of Mont-Saint-Michel. On a clear day like the day that we visited, you could see the 22 kilometres to Mont-Saint-Michel. You could also see the Islands of Chauncey twenty kilometres away where the monks got the stone to build the abbey. Very nice walk, with spectacular views.

En route to other places we stopped to view this outcrop of rock and shoreline. From here one can see Mont St. Michel floating in the distance like a beached ship with mast wound up before a storm. Also a former Nazi bunker in grey cement just sits there bearing witness.

Incredible view on two different sides, could even see the Mont Saint Michel that day. Worth the detour!! Quite easy to find a parking spot and fairly walkable paths throughout the Pointe du Grouin.
