Superb waterfall which can be visited as part of the full Sancy horseshoe or as a walk in its' downright from either Mont Dore or the mountain pass road above. Either way you will have some steep steps and rough paths but paths are clearly waymarked.

The easiest way to get there is to park on the Col de Croix St Robert and walk down to the cascade. It is then worth walking up the ridge a little way to enjoy views down to le Mont-Dore and up the summit of the Puy de Sancy.

We were walking from Super Besse via la Réserve Naturelle de la Vallée de Chaudefour (which was really pretty!) and stopped in on our way to the station in Mont Dore. The weather was terrible (snow/sleet) but this makes for good waterfall action. The cascade drops some 40+ metres and the location is quite secluded. Excellent for photography. You can find more info on our hiking route along with some pictures here: Réserve Naturelle de la Vallée de Chaudefour…
