A very distinctive Romanesque style church well worth a visit. Inside it is beautiful with amazing stained glass windows and painted columns looking like it was originally. This was done in the 19 th century and gives one an idea of how bright and beautiful church interiors were centuries ago.

Even if you are only stopping in Issoire en route, it is worth finding time to visit this beautiful building especially the wonderful capitals in the chancel.

This Romanesque church is really something. It looks big, but nothing special from outside. But inside there is an amazing surprise. The painted columns emphasize the beauty of this church. One of the most beautiful I have seen in my journey around France.

A fantastically decorated religious building, looks good if dirty fro mthe outrside but inside it is magnificent with painted columns and walls and great stained glass. Well worth a visit. It is situated outside the Tourist office and a car park so ideal

Interesting town unspoilt by mass tourism. The Abbey church is an outstanding example of Romanesque architecture.

The outside of the church had many small chapels clustered around the east end and the columns of the nave had been painted in geometric and floral designs which gave brightness to the church. The morning sun filtered through the stained glass windows and made enchanting patterns of colour on the floor. In the crypt was "La chasse" a turquoise... More
