    Great market on Saturday
We were in Sarlat just for one day(Saturday) and it was market day. The market is big, lots of different marketstalls, local stuff and more general things. We were early which was good as towards noon it was really packed. We took the market navette which was great as parking close by is a nightmare on those days.

    Huge market
Takes place in the medieval city centre of Sarlat -la-Caneda. Offers everything from fruit and vegetables, cheese, wine, spirits, special regional products to clothes, jewelry, household things etc. You can try everything and everyone is in a good mood. Nice to be there.

A must if you’re in the area
We visited the market on a Saturday morning. It is full of absolutely everything. We all purchased souvenirs and tried local produce. All the stall holders we spoke to were very friendly and happy to have a chat. Sarlat is an absolutely beautiful medieval town and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

    Market: fresh and fun
Arrive early! Market is Wednesdays and Saturdays. Wednesday was jammed by 10:30 with locals as well as visitors. In late April, beautiful selection of fresh vegetables from asparagus to tomatoes, local wines, fruits cheeses, walnuts, breads. Have fun exploring in lovely Square and pick up some paté!

    Lovely authentic food market
Great open market that takes over the most of Sarlat on Saturdays. Great food stalls in the centre selling local produce. Covered market is also open. Despite it being busy it was a relaxed atmosphere.

Great local produce literally everywhere in this huge market but very few people doing anything different. Also at the time of covid19 way too many people and a lot of non-mask wearing. Didn’t feel entirely safe but in the end it was an interesting experience.

Visited this market on saturday via bicycle as we had heard the roads get very busy on market days. They were correct. Is a great market offering all kinds of clothing homeware and all the local speciality foods local to the area. Be warned though it can be very busy in the summer. Lots of places to stop and refresh on the way and of course a beautiful old town to browse around after. Well worth a visit.

The Saturday market opens at 8:30. We were told to get there early to get parking. We scoped out parking the day before and arrived at our parking lot at 8:20. There was one spot left. The village should provide satellite parking away from the old town and have a shuttle to take people back and forth. I'd pay a small fee for this service and it would get the cars away from the old town. The markets around France now pretty much sell the same stuff. I saw very little handmade besides jewelry and food. That was sad to see. I can't imagine what it's like in the summer.

The market gets very very busy so it is advisable to go early, especially if you want to park.
It is a very large market with a good variety of stalls. Some things are repeated several times.
Very bustling and interesting to walk around.

French markets are always interesting and this is no exception. It extends throughout the narrow medieval streets and is packed with tourists. Much of the ware is not local but look out for the farmers selling their produce. Enjoy the experience rather than buy!

This market is wonderful - colourful, vibrant and interesting. This is the best market I have ever been to. The local produce is varied and wonderful. The brightly coloured canopies of the stalls add to the already spectacular sight of the medieval buildings around which the market is situated.

A walk round this market and you could miss out lunch. Tasty titbits are on offer, they range from walnuts, to cheese, sausages, cake, biscuits, oils, vinegars and wine. The lively and friendly banter of the stall holders, the smells and tastes of the food make this a must on a visit to this area.

In addition to the produce on offer, the market stretches along the main road of the town, here non food items can be found. So if you fancy buying a little memento of your stay, here you will find anything from beautifully crafted tablecloths, wooden ornaments, toys, flowers, clothes to name but a few.

Make this a must on your itinerary.
