Worth going but maybe not as exciting as one would anticipate

This is an interesting structure - be warned it sways a bit! The views from the top are interesting as opposed to awe-inspriring

Different to any other Observation Platform
Apr 2019 • Couples
We didn't climb up the tower as it has a steep, narrow set of stairs where it is not possible to pass people. Despite that it was worth visiting as there is a nice area at the tower base to enjoy the view & to watch others navigate the stairs.

Scary but worth it
Mar 2019 • Couples
It's a very tall observation tower, thin, and very scary especially when there's a strong wind.

But rest assured, the tower has been there for a long time and will not fall down. You get a fantastic view of the city from up there (but mind you, it's a very long and steep climb).

Best sunset
Sep 2018 • Couples
Went up just half hour before sunset and enjoyed the view over Arcachon and the bay.
Not being too comfortable with heights, the unstable stairs were scary but it’s worth it.:-)

Good view on Arcachon
Aug 2018 • Friends
This little tower gives you a good overall view on Arcachon and that's all. The tower isn't too big, nor scary. Not too many stairs, so easily doable within your own time.

Stairs sway but the tower is stable
Jul 2018 • Couples
The tower itself is stable, but the spiral staircase is held up by cables and sways a bit as you use it. Nice views from the top. Ville d'Hiver is not so interesting from above because of all the trees, but the view over Arcachon bay is good.

A view from the top
Jun 2018
Situated in the winter city, the tower offers a nice view of Arcachon. But you have to climb steep steps to reach the top.

Take a deep breath and climb the belvedere
Jun 2018 • Couples
I heard about the belvedere and as we went through the park, we saw it and decided to go. You do not have to be affraid of height if you go there but the view is fabulous. We were alone up there and it was sooooo calm.

Not easy......but well worth it.
Jun 2018 • Couples
The obvservatoire is not for the faint of heart with its spiral staircase and swaying movement. The view from the top makes the nervy climb really worthwhile.

Wonderful views of the Arcachon basin and the Winter town
Jun 2017 • Couples
I have to confess that I did not ascend the observatory due to me not having a head for heights. The spiral staircase is iron, open sided, and wobbly, so if you are like me, you may want to give it a miss!. However, my good lady did ascend and told me that the views are marvellous - the photos bear that out. It is free to ascend. I would advise ladies to wear shorts or trousers for the ascent.
