Worth the visit for a foodie!

We bought fresh berries and croque monseir for lunch. Lots of places to sit and relax. Wine, cheese, bread, and jellies are available here as well. After lunch, we found a gelato shop and had coffee and chocolate. So fun!

Terrific undercover market

We have visited this market on two occasions & were very impressed with it. It's modern, airy & has a wide variety of local produce. There are also a number of areas where you can sit & eat a seafood lunch.

Great market - but expensive
Sep 2018 • Friends
There is no doubt this market is a major draw for locals and tourists alike. It is full of fresh produce, of all descriptions, and from many places a long way away from France as well. A vibrant venue full of provisions with wine stores, a café and a number of specialist vendors. Twice a week there is a more formal outdoor market when there are many people selling clothes, trinkets and seasonal goods. Parking can be a problem, so either come early or park close to the new Aldi store. The prices are, however, high by comparison to other places nearby.

Underwhelming

Super food and lovely displays, but the prices! There are better places locally for all those products although the atmosphere and quality here is excellent.

Classic French market

If you're staying in a place with kitchen facilities, you owe it to yourself to shop the Marche and prepare a memorable meal.
I absolutely love these markets (favorite being Les Halles in Dijon), and could simply walk the space for hours just amazing at the quality and variety of food available.
Bread made right on premises, fish and meat of the highest quality. Produce that begs to be eaten right now!

Definitely worth the walk if you're a fan of real food.

proper french market

we knew there was a market in Arcachon but came across it entirely by accident after parking in the underground car park which lies beneath the market. There is an indoor part which sells sea food and meats mainly with the outdoor stalls selling a combination of everything - fruit/veg, hot food, wine, clothes, fabrics etc. Don't leave it too late, all the stalls are gone by 2/2.30. This is such a lovely hustle and bustle market - a little upmarket perhaps - but well worth a visit. Lots of bars/restaurants around the edges of the market

Great Place to Shop and Watch the World!
Jun 2016
We stayed in an aparthotel that is right on the place des marquises so naturally our shopping focus was one this market. Wonderful atmosphere, delicious seafood, a rich variety of charcuterie, talkative and happy salespeople selling everything from fine wines to simple conserved fruit - the dried apricots and figs we bought from a very friendly couple proved to be absolutely delicious and almost caramelized. I can still taste them. Aside from the food, it is of course entertaining just to watch the world do its shopping - you can learn a lot about France by understanding a bit about the connection between their culture, their origins and the notions of "terroir" and this is a great place to do it. Of course the fact you can stop and have a delicious degustation of oysters and prawns with a decent glass of wine at the same time is a complete bonus!
