Almost every year I visit the region of the Jerma River with my husband and child(ren). The combination of nature, culture, history is great. The paintings in the Monastery of Poganovo are great. You should see for them on internet and than decide to go to watch them. The River Jerma has many opportunities for having a great picknick, watching and enyoying the beautiful nature. Only a few miles away is another monastery with great paintings in Sukovo. So the region of the Jerma River gives many opportunities for having a great day with culture, nature and also good food. Right opposite to Poganovo Monastery you will find a restaurant with good products of the region. Also it is possible to go 6 km ahead to the Spa Swimming Pool of Zvonacka Banja. But whatever you do on a day in your holiday, see the fresco's of the two monasteries in Sukovo and Poganovo. Please think about wearing clothes you should also wear in churches elsewhere in the world.

This monastery is well located on the Jerma River. The frescoes are good, and the atmosphere is special because no lighting other than the daylight. Around the monastery there is the river, a restaurant and places for picnic. For those who love trekking, a track is available near the monastery, it starts next to the restaurant.

In summer and day celebrations, this monastery is popular.

Amazing place. Location is just amazing. Next to the monastery is Jerma river famous for it`s trout population. U can also swim in it. Surroundings are just stunning. You can also walk down or up the river since it`s very shallow. Nature at best. Must visit in this part of Serbia. Peace and quiet.

Not too far off the beaten track but you do need a car or taxi. Well worth the effort and the time. The scenic journey up the canyon to the monastery and it's beautiful location helps one envision the protection the monastery gave against others, up to 500 years ago. The church is only small so won't take a lot of time to view the frescoes. Walk around the old church and soak up the atmosphere. If you have time, there is a restaurant across the road.

The monastery itself is small but cozy. The paintings inside are very beautiful and well preserved. The surroundings as well as the road there are amazing. Recommended to visit for every kind of visitor.

Visited for a break while traveling to Sofia. Takes about 15mins from the highway to get there (drive carefully, the road is pretty narrow but fine for an average car). The monastery is located in a valley on the banks of the Jerma River. If you get hungry - the nearby restaurant right across the road from the monastery served us delicious food. Definitely worth a visit.
