The 'Summit to Sea' trip, hosted by In Your Element, was excellent from start to finish. Colin our guide is a true expert both on the hill hiking and on the river paddling - he really went the extra mile in sharing his knowledge of the local surroundings and in teaching techniques on and off the water to ensure we had a safe and enjoyable expedition. The food was great and very impressive for wild camping - we were certainly well looked after! It was clear that a huge amount of hard work had gone into designing and planning the trip. I would recommend it to anyone who is keen to see some beautiful and dramatic scenery in the UK and meet great people, doing a challenging but very achievable expedition. Thank you to In Your Element!

Took an 11 & 12 years old girls to Treezone, Loch Lomond yesterday. It was a very rainy day, made some of the obstacles more slippy and muddy, but they said it added to the ‘adventure’. Staff were great and very patient with some kids that needed a little bit of extra help and encouragement. Only downfall, was that they were looking forward to the ‘finale’ zipwire (as shown in the advert) which instead they absailed down from the crows nest, which unfortunately was a slightly disappointing end.

Tree Zone was enjoyed by our group, we had 90 minutes of great fun that the rain didn’t dampen. There was just enough of a difficult challenge for our 13 year old but easy for the 16 year old. The event was well organised, efficiently run by a nice bunch of enthusiastic young people.

We hired a canoe, kit and transfer from In Your Element to paddle the Great Glen Canoe Trail over 4 days. It was a truly great trip, and a wonderful way to see the highlands. An epic Scottish journey, with a real sense of adventure. In Your Element gave us great advice, and a fantastic service. We will defeinitely use them again for our next paddling adventure.

100km canoe trip across Scotland:
The sheer amount of smooth organization for our trip through wavey, windy and rainy lochs was amazing! Meeting a person who is doing exactly what they are supposed to be doing is very rare - but our guide Colin was one of them! He was able to steer us through difficult water, explain every animal, vegetation or sports questions we had. Food, equipement, organization and guide of In Your Element was on point! Thank you Colin for being one of us while showing us the way. To watch him excel in his Element was just as amazing as the scenery around us. What an adventure to have with the greatest people in our group! Cheers to us and knowing when to rudder or side sweep :)

This trip is definitely for you if you want to get out of your comfort zone! The hike was full of dramatic scenery but tough at times, carrying a large, heavy rucksack really changes your fitness level I found out! After the hike we canoed down the River Spey, which is as beautiful. We were all learning to canoe for the first time and Colin, our guide, gave clear instructions, was patient and really encouraging. I couldn’t fault his skills as a teacher. Colin looked after everyone really well, we had different dietary requirements and he made a huge effort to make sure we all had food we would enjoy.Overall it was fun and challenging and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants a physical challenge and to experience the Scottish outdoors 😊

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience canoeing on Loch Ness. Colin was our guide and he was very knowledgeable and provided lots of interesting facts and figures about the history of Loch Ness. It was my first time canoeing and he was very patient and gave good instruction for beginners.

We brought my sone along for his 15th birthday with a friend and his younger brother to the site in Loch Lomond. We have done similar activities on holiday before and so had an idea of what to expect and we were not disappointed. The courses were challenging enough to be exciting but not too tricky that it wasn't fun. The guide was really chatty and encouraging, she knew all the kids names in both groups by the end of the first short course and chatted with them throughout the visit. Everything was well maintained and the felt safe, in terms of the course and COVID restrictions. We are planning a return visit during the next few weeks. Only thing we didn't realise was that it was in the Loch Lomond Shore complex and that there were other activities and places to eat/picnic in the same area which we would have taken advantage of to extend the day.

We did a canoeing tour along the Loch Ness with Gavin. It was incredible!
It felt like we were the only people there- canoeing is definitely a great way to get a real feel for the famous lake. We got lucky and had fantastic, clear weather and were able to reach the waterfalls - roughly 40 mins paddling from Fort Augustus.
Definitely one of our top highlights from our Highlands trip!

Hey,
I‘m desperatly looking for a paddling tour in November, because it‘s my best friend’s dream to paddle Loch Ness. We‘re from Germany and up for a vaccation trip to scottland in November.
Would you offer an one-Hour-tour for 2-3 person Nov 12-14th?
Best wishes!
Hannah

Hi, is it possible to do this in January?
Written June 26, 2018
Hi, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. The weather is a major factor in January for us so our activities tend to be limited to bike hire, Segway Adventure Treks and archery near Aviemore. Also our TreeZone courses at Aviemore and Loch Lomond are open most weekends in January.

Hi! We will be porting in Inverness on Jul 12 with a cruise. Would it be possible to arrange a day canoeing trip for 4 people?
Written May 26, 2018
Hi Kellie, many thanks for getting in touch about canoeing on the 12th July, however, I'm afraid that due to other bookings already confirmed we have no availability on that particular day. I'm sorry we can't help out on this occasion. Can I suggest that you contact Explore Highland (based in Inverness) as they may still be able to help you out.
Thanks again.

Hi
I am at early stages of planning a canoeing trip through Scotland will have large family and friends. Will be using Canadian canoes and kayaks. Would love some advice on
Best route to take
Sleeping facilities tent or hostel
Also degree of difficulty
Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy, The Great Glen Canoe Trail is a good choice, with lots of paddler-friendly facilities along the route. I'm not sure how big a family group you are planning to paddle with, but bear in mind that wild camping in large groups is discouraged due to the impact it has on wild places. When on the water, it's also harder to manage a larger group unless you have a few experienced paddlers around to help.
The Scottish Canals website is a good place to get info (there is a section on the Caledonian Canal. You'll need to apply for a paddler's license.
If you need to hire equipment and require a shuttle service then In Your Element can potentially help as well.
Hope that helps. It's a great trip.

Morning Jacqueline, many thanks for getting in touch. Unfortunately, we have a really busy weekend and have nothing available to offer you on the 27th. We do have canoe trips running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from Fort Augustus, at the south end of Loch Ness. This would be suitable for you and would be a lovely trip to join. If you are interested in joining us for this on Friday 26th or Monday 29th, you can find out more and book by contacting us again or looking on the Boots N Paddles website under the Scheduled Activities or Days out pages.
I hope that helps. Thanks again.

In the early planning stages of a proposed trip in 2016. Is there an optimal time of year when weather and water depth/flow come together to make the best trip?
Thanks!
