Remote, basic. You have to willing to rough it. We came for rock climbing and enjoy the water and no where is better. The host Miro seems rash in the beginning but warms up quickly. One has to be self sufficient here. We hike (30 minutes each way after some drinking) to and from the restaurants. We climb, swim, deep water soloing, kayaking daily. The food was fresh, the wine was great. And the people are the most welcoming.

Miro has a spot on place, off the beaten path. If your into climbing he has his own spot. Plenty of climbing for a week! Anything from 5-8, 20-40 meters. Private swimming cove, rock jumping, dws and more. It's a bit of a hike about 15 mins by foot or bring a boat. I would also pack snacks and make a whole day! He does offer beer and his home made wine! Which is really good if you like dry reds. You can stay over night in an apartment or ask and he will set you up in town! Loved this place, thanks again Miro!

We were staying in Hvar town at the end of April (i.e. before the season really begins), and rented a car specifically to drive to Cliffbase for via ferrata. Things were not entirely as we expected: Cliffbase is not signed from the local village. In order to get there you have to walk about 15 minutes east from the harbour among the boulders along the shoreline. The site itself is beautiful, remote and has a lovely atmosphere, but is not manned the whole time. The owner was not there, and the other guests told us that the via ferrata equipment is kept at the owner's house, at the top of the village (5 minutes drive uphill). The via ferrata trail begins a 30 minute walk above the village - a fair distance from Cliffbase. Most people in the village know the owner, and could call his phone. Unfortunately he didn't pick up so we were unable to do via ferrata.

Great place for climbers, many routes to climb with different difficulty. You can also enjoy great surroundings, you can swim, snorkel in private harbour or outside of it. Or you can sit and relax with great wine from the owner. Truly great place to relax or be active.

I have climbed all over the world but Cliffbase is very special - the ethos is live simply and enjoy the climbing and nature - this is helped by the beautiful and unique location but also by the wonderful staff and the attitude of the pother guests. Very hot but very chilled. July hot for climbing but a great three days for the family with climbing and swimming in such a great location.

Road is about 17 km from Sveta Nedilja u city of Hvar. It is perfect for off road excursions and mountain bike rides. Most lovely place to ride a bike in Croatia. You will not believe changes in scenery - cliffs, sea, wineyards.

Climbed here a couple days with my husband. Owner was super hospitable and set-up great top rope climbs for us. Beautiful setting on sea surrounded by vineyards. Unique community feel developed by owner: felt like a climbing crag meets intentional community meets hostel meets resort. Super low key and loved the approach walk-in from the little fishing village. Highly recommend.
