We went on the Balade sur les grèves (dans la baie) 2 hour tour in September 2019. The tour was conducted in French, which we knew ahead of time, and we don't really speak much French but we really wanted to do the walk around MSM, so we signed up knowing that we'd miss out on most of the commentary.

The tour was a great experience despite our lack of French skills. While the guide conducted the tour in French, I tried my best to follow along with my very basic French skills and he often tried to translate a few words for me so that we wouldn't be completely lost.

It was just a wonderful experience being able to walk barefoot along the sand around MSM and enjoy the views, which were stunning. Even if you don't speak French, I recommend this tour,

Our family ( kids aged 11, 7 and 6) thoroughly enjoyed Mont Saint Michel. We drove 1 hour from Bayeux, parked in the second car park as it's closer to the shuttle buses and hopped on the free transport to the base of the Mont. From there you walk across the causeway (unfortunately it's being renovated so looked quite unsightly) into the outer walls of the monastery where you can enjoy the shop lined cobble stoned walk way. There are a number of museums to visit as you meander up the path as well as smaller chapels to see. The progressive incline can be quite tiring and there is no food or drinks to purchase once passed the shopping strip. A guided tour would have been useful as we didn't come across any explanation boards along the way. Stunning views from different areas and lovely gardens as you exit on the other side. A fascinating and enchanting place. A must see!

Given the beautiful weather, we decided to take a guided walk across the bay to reach Mont Saint Michel on foot. After calling several guides, we were able to find a spot in the following day's walk with this company. It is a collective of the licenced guides (due to various hazards, only licenced guides may take groups across the sands), offering different walks to the mount.

We did a round trip crossing of the bay (approximately 13km) with Thierry, who kept the group moving and ensure our safe passage across the bay.

The groups was very large and had a big mix of levels, so the walk is not taxing, but it is long. The explanations and commentaries are long, but work on the assumption that you know nothing of the history, geography or physics of the area.

The big weakness of this collective is their organisation. Several hundred people are invited to queue up at at single window to check in and receive their guide information in a very short space of time. Surely there has to be a better way.

As clearly stated in the terms and conditions, they don't even partially refund you if you decide you don't want to have a very unpleasant experience getting soaked wet for two hours.
So think twice before booking in advance as rain is quite common even in August.

What a wonderful place been to Saint Michael's mount in Cornwall so had to go and see this much bigger and well worth the trip a lot of walking you must go in to the cathedral nine Euros entrance fee . If you are disabled or in a wheelchair wouldn't advise you to go a lot of steps and very steep . You pay to park at the visitors and there is a free shuttle bus to take you out or you can walk it's about a mile but very pleasant if the weather is good parink for about four hours cost me €12.50

The mixture of emotions we feel when looking to this undescridable site is out of this world. Its amazing how man was able to build such a place. It has one of the best restaurants for omollettes la Mere Poulard. To walk through the narrow and windy roads is a total discovery of history. The rapid tides transform this MonT in an island in a very short time, what is phenomenal to see.
