puputan klungkung monument just located opposite of Kertha Gosa complex,it was made by black stone in form of Lingga Yoni. It is supposed to serve as a memorial for future generations about the historic event that occurred on 28 April 1908 about the resistance of the Indonesian people against imperialist efforts of the Dutch.i visited here last month when i revisited bali.inside the monument, you can see a room equipped with memorabilia and historical photos which depicts the struggle of the local people during this time.it is a must see when visiting klungkung.

The monument is sited on an elevated site in Semarapura and directly opposite the Kerta Gosa complex. It was built as a memorial to those who lost their lives in the struggle against the Dutch colonists in 1908. Among those who lost their lives were rulers of the Gelgel kingdom, Dewa Agung Gede Semarabawa, Dewa Agung Muter, the crown prince of the kingdom, and the King of Klungkung, Dewa Agung Jambe II. The monument was inaugurated in 1992 on the 84th anniversary of the puputan (uprising). It rises to a height of 28m, Lingga-Yoni shape, and represents ancient Hindu symbols of the God Shiva and Parvati, his consort. The room at the base houses a diorama that tells the story of the uprising, Japanese control during WW11 and the later fight for independence

A very important monument to commemorate the struggle against imperialism. We learn that fighting until the end is much honorable than the humiliating surrender.

Worth a look if visiting the Klungklung palace across the road. Interesting history of Bali including Dutch occupation. 15 minutes will suffice.

A bit dated display inside, but I really enjoyed the display that went through the history of the area. The ticket office is on this side of the road.

This is a memorial to the last tragic battle between the Dutch invaders and the Kingdom of Klungkung. My understanding is that puputan could be translated as ritual suicidal attack and that's what happened when the the king and his court and entourage confronted the Dutch army in 1908.
Most of the remaining members of the Royal Family committed suicide right after. Inside the monument there are a number of dioramas showing the history of the puputan (with almost unintelligible English explanations) as well as some later historical moments.
The entry ticket includes the town's main attraction (across the road).

Klungkung as a city with a palace is one of the biggest palace in Bali. In this monument that inaugurated by the art minister Rudini has several diorama that tells us about the historic Klungkung war

It's worth a look if you are in the area, but there is nothing spectacular here - just some depictions of war in glass cases along the walls.
