Having taken advantage of "card" type packages (including Firenze Card which is a good value) we decided to go with this combo card (La Volterra Card). Palazzo dei Priori is nr1 attraction to see as you enter the city from parking1 or bus stop. During our visit we did not catch any exhibition or event, but it did not nattered. It was breathtaking to see 600 years old buildings.

What a interesting building , as we where there they had a art exhibition and some lovely music playing. Also went to the top of the tower to have a view over the town and the countryside . Be aware for people that are on a large side and with small children ,they might struggle to go on the last... More

Such a fantastic little medieval town. My kids thought it reminded them of Harry Potter locations and I have to agree.

In a piazza filled with grand buildings, the 13th century, Palazzo dei Priori demands your attention due to the emblems on the facade. Climb the Clock Tower for views over Volterra. Entry is covered by the Volterra Card. Palazzo dei Priori is located in a beautiful piazza in a truly beautiful town.

We were lucky enough to see a wedding as we began our tour of Volterra in this Palazzo. Good luck! Definitely get the audio guide from the tourist info center ( 5 euros) and follow the self guided tour.

You might find that hill towns of Tuscany/Umbria have much in common. Etruscan style is very evident in structures - however, Volterra is one of the nicer. Very picturesque. Alabaster shops abound. Who knew! Aside from neat views the shops are interesting. Worth a stop if in the area.
