Volterra is an amazing place, but a visitor cannot fully appreciate its history and contributions to civilization without Annie! She put everything in perspective and made it really interesting! I had done a lot of research prior to visiting Volterra, but Annie's expertise really brought it alive, especially the story about the Volterrians (sp?) saving the last remaining Etruscan gate from the German army's plan to blow it up in a daring overnight move. A plus for English speakers, Annie is a transplant from the US. Highly recommend!

Get your walking shoes on and enjoy discovering a wonderful town filled with history, archaeology, architecture, shops of all sorts and restaurants. The views from the town of the surrounding Chianti countryside are amazing.

Claudia gave us an interesting presentation of the history of Volterra while taking us on a walking tour through this oldest of hill towns in Tuscany. She is energetic, pleasant, and proudly knowledgeable of the town in which she grew up. The tour starts in front of the Alabaster store so be sure to stop in it before or after the tour as it is quite interesting, also.

Claudia's informative, fun tour made a visit to this town one of the highlights of my trip to Tuscany. She brings the incredible history of this town to life. And it's a bargain to boot!
