Walk on the Passeggiata

It's what everyone does in the evening. Go for a walk to see and be seen. Street performers, shops, gelato, some live musicians. Worth it.

Any visit, to Italy, is all about the Passeggiata - the promenade. In the evening, everyone joins in the passeggiata - it is virually a verb! It is what you do 'to be seen'. Dress up and strut. It is an Italian way of life; whether you are in an up-market resort or in the back streets. La Passeggiata, in... More

Great for a strollin the evening Many exclusive shops, good music shop, plenty eating places and many side shows. Buildings are lovely but watch out for the bike lane at night as you can forget to be aware of this.

We loved this beach town. The car-free pedestrian area was lovely. Lots of shops, restaurants and people-watching. It is also very family-friendly. On Thursday mornings there is a flea market along the pedestrian walkway, too (clothes, household goods and trinkets). Alongside, there is a bicycle only lane.

This has the feel of an English Victorian seaside promenade, only a lot longer. Some lovely but a few run down parts. It's s shame not more of the beach is public but as long as you know to go to the end furthest from town, you'll be fine, slightly expensive parking but worth it. If it's a beach you're... More

My wife and i enjoyed very much this walk which is a bit long but well worth it particularly for the ladies with all the shops they end up stopping at. If you are tired, in between, plenty of cafe's, bars and ice cream parlors as well as pizzerias for all kinds of appetite and taste or just a deserved... More

Visited this town on our tour through Italy. We stayed one night but could have stayed longer to enjoy all the town had to offer. The main street is very long and lined with varied shops, restaurants and beach cabanas. We had a nice time walking the street and enjoying the extended beach.

If you like designer shopping ok,but not my idea of a pretty seaside. Some interesting buildings from the early 1900s but down by the port was a little shabby. All the restaurants seem to offer the same menu.

Such a great walk, with shops and restaurants! Free from motor traffic, great views of the sea and the Alps!
