we guessed what the statue represented before we read the plaque, very poignent and makes you realise the dangers of the sea.

Last year while visiting the Villa Argentina, we were given a tour of its then-current art exhibition (works by Sig. Biancalana, and also L'attesa's sculptor) by his son. Fascinating, to say the least. Having walked by this emotional piece of statuary so many times on our early morning walks, it was fascinating to spend the time at the Villa with the sculptor's son. The English translation of the plaque on the statue, though, will raise a smile. The walk alone along the Molo in the early morning is super, too.

L'attesa, Gionata Francesconi's bronze reconstruction of the wooden statue by Inaco, is not so much a destination in itself as it is part of the experience of walking on the molo (pier.) The sculpture depicts a family anxiously awaiting the return of a ship and because it faces the sea, rather than the pier, most of the family is not visible. However, the sculpture is supposed to embody hope and it does that amply from it's rocky perch next to the pier.

This was such a beautiful walk and at the top of the pier was a wonderful view over the beach and the horizon on the sea watching the yachts sail by. It really is worth the walk and spend some time sat at the statue on the wall looking out to sea.

This is a lovely walk along the wall, plus you pass plenty of food stalls (out of boats) which are really well priced. Ideal if you fancy a snack. the views are amazing, especially when the sun goes down or in the early morning.

Nice walk, nice scenery, good views, lots of impressive boats and super yachts, this particular port is not just like any port on the coast as it has a history of yachts and super yachts building so there are ship yards especially erected since generations for this purpose with all the feeding industry around them.
