the gardens are lovely but you cannot see the palace itself from the inside as its used by various council departments, which is a real shame. we did take a picture of a painted ceiling on one of the staircases ( look for the golden busts) which gave a glimpse of what visitors to varese are missing! there is a bar/café in the park and childrens rides.

Walked through the palace gardens with my 6 and 7 year old. Beautiful and perfectly maintained. We spent an hour here exploring the beautiful grounds and the children found plenty to explore and see. It's a beautiful spot in the city to walk through. It was crowded when we first arrived, but nearly empty when we left. We went for about 90 minutes midday on a Sunday so I would have expected big crowds the entire time.

The grounds are well maintained, even in early spring (late March), and the view of Varese and the nearby mountains from the top of the hill is lovely.

Lovely larger gardens accesses through the courtyard of a very large and ornate grand house close to the centre of town. Large number of very old trees in gardens and English explanation signs available. Museum of xx in the villa mirabello at top left of gardens. Either through it or behind it is a raised area with seating and a bar/cafe. Lovely place for a drink.

We enjoyed strolling through the well manicured gardens with picturesque views. The top of the gardens was less well tended, around the children's playground but it was a very beautiful place.
Recommended for a stroll.

A beautiful little place to visit in Varese with gardens and a fountain. A great spot for photos. Free of charge to visit the gardens

Perfect place to take a walk and relax. Perfect place for kids (4-13), as there is plenty of place to run around and there are many small rides for them. The garden is beautiful and full of flowers. On the top of the small hill you can find a train.

Not sure what I expected but really shouldn't have been surprised after seeing how rundown the centre of Varese has become over the years since I was last here (ok - so it was in the mid 70s - but still....). The park's just up from Piazza Monte Grappa and there are a number of entrances. I think back in the day it would have been the Palazzo private gardens. It's mostly uphill to get round the park with numerous paths that often seem to lead nowhere - one on the far side leads down to a crumbling putt putt course and uninviting looking swimming pool/sports centre. There's a fountain beyond the main Palazzo entrance and other "pools" - I use the word loosely as the water colour is a rank green with associated debris - I felt sorry for the poor swans. As you walk round you notice dubious characters who I took to be either drug fiends or dealers. According to the notice board the park closes late at night but I definitely wouldn't feel safe wandering around after dark. What does the local government spend their tax income on because it's definately not roads and public spaces in and around the town - disgraceful.

Went there on a sunday, and had a peaceful stay walking around the place. People relaxing and meeting, and the palace and garden was grand. Excellent spot for a picnic too! Did not check out the inside of palace, but went to the museum to see ancient collection of Roman culture, which was partly in English. Very helpful guide.
