For historical reasons, go.

You know how young your culture is as you read the history of this location. Like the town itself, the cathedral is a living monument.

nice from outside
May 2019 • Couples
they date it back to the 12th century, and outside it really does look nice. but when entering, there is little of 12th century to see, and the church looks rather void.

Nice
Jul 2018 • Friends
The cathedral is usually closed so I had only one chance to visit it. It austere interior has a medieval atmosphere. It’s good to stop and reflect on your life.

Beautiful Church
Oct 2017 • Friends
We first saw the church walking around Tropea in the evening. The restored facade is strikingly beautiful. It's very easy to find and worth seeing.

Tasteful restoration to original austerity
Apr 2016 • Couples
Tropea has suffered several major earthquakes - these led to several "reconstructions" of the Duomo, each following the idiom of the time. Fortunately the restoration undertaken at the end of the 1920s has eliminated most of the Renaissance and Baroque sedimentation and left us with a credible Romanesque skeleton. The austerity of this building brilliantly mirrors the poor but nakedly beautiful country/seascape in which Tropea lies. And is a perfect frame for Giotto's Virgin of Romania.

Just beautiful
Sep 2015 • Couples
This church located in the beautiful old town, reached in about a few minutes from the central Piazza Ercole.
I visited this church just outside, at night, I can say I was impressed by the architectural beauty and especially for the care and the conservation status of which is the church.
Really fascinated by the lights that illuminate it and make it in my opinion the most beautiful church in the city. I think is open only during daylight hours.
