The central square of Tropea, where the most important roads converge and come together right here. The centerpiece of the town, many restaurants and ice cream parlors, bars and many tourists crowding the square and surrounding streets. Beautiful scenery but also a very romantic evening atmosphere.

Tropea is an ancient city in calabria
It is interesting and with beautiful Historical buildings the walls that were used to protect the city s date back to 1000AD there is a maze of porticoes, courtyards, luxuriant gardens, steep steps and quaint lanes that run up to lovely, elegant small squares.
The eighteenth-century Tocco mansion should also be seen, Also the Toraldo mansion , a lovely aristocratic home .
The drive was an adventure with its narrow steep roads that are crazy even by italian standard, these roads were made for horses not cars.

A lively piazza with many places to eat and sit. Active with people all day and gets very busy at night! A lovely place to visit and stroll around.

Piazza Ercole is a perfect place to grab a tartuffo and people watch. There are several cafes and restaurants to choose from to sit down and enjoy a meal or some coffee or dessert. The place gets quite busy in the evening (during the day between 12 and 4, it is quite dead, as this is siesta time). The atmosphere is relaxing and it smells like the beach - there is a viewpoint at the end of the piazza to look out to the sea and the road below. Wonderful!

We visited Tropea in March - at that time Piazza Ercole was not very busy, just felt local and slow-going. Few restaurants at the square and the surroundings make it a good place for a lunch or dinner.

We felt safe walking here at any hour of the day or night. A true Italian village. The shopkeepers are friendly and there is no sense of pressure.

There are some restaurants and terraces where you can watch the ,,street show,,, savvy a coffee or a glass of wine.
In this central square takes place in September, a blues festival.
