Famous for red onions and fish
Tropea Beach is quite fascinating. It's on the coast of Calabria, where delicious red onions are grown, which are unique. The red onions can be consumed, made with vegetable broth and pasta. The restaurant is popular for serving red onions, in an osteria-style Italian restaurant. Calabria is the toe of Italy, in the Peninsula's southwest, adjacent to Sicily. Sicily is the Mediterranean's island Tropea is famous for fish and red onions.

Beautiful sandy beach’s and clear blue sea and views.
Excellent braces in Tropea. You can either access via steps from the town on the cliff or via road. Reasonable amount of cheap parking available for a few nice beach side testaurants. Clean beach with chairs and umbrellas available. Easy access with no steps from the car park in most areas. Definitely worth a visit. Would recommend the town and the beaches.

    Paradise!
Tropea is a charming place, with peaceful beaches and blue sea 💙. I don't want to leave. Good restaurants, a multitude of B&Bs and everything very close by: beach, train station, etc. A great destination to rest. In May the city was lively, but not crowded.

    Beautiful Tropea!
Tropea, a charming, pretty town with beautiful beaches and clear, azure waters. The town has a ton of character, a good variety of nice, fairly reasonable restaurants and shops. We planned to stay 4 nights but stayed 7. Love, love, love Tropea!

    Fantastic!!!
Tropea is truly unique and did not disappoint our expectations. Beautiful and clean sea like in Sardinia; the water remains transparent even in the afternoon. Breathtaking views (see panorama from the overlook and other viewpoints). The rock cave is cute. A beautiful, characteristic, lively and colorful country (the Tropea spring onion reigns supreme with its vivid colours). The sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola is absolutely worth visiting.

    Discounted confirmation!
Obvious confirmation. Tropea remains one of the most enchanting views of the Calabrian Tyrrhenian coast, a unique place on the so-called Costa degli Dei which, unfortunately, remains poorly served by road infrastructures (like most of Calabria). Arriving early in the morning it was possible to find space on the beach (right under the church) and street parking right in front, shame about those €3 per hour 24 hours a day which, at least in some time slots, could be halved. It's true that facing the sea there may be a higher cost, but the possibility of parking in summer is really limited (the ZTL doesn't help you get around), and after all the time it takes to reach it (due to the bad roads) more attention to welcoming tourists would not be unwelcome. On the other hand, with the costs that have to be incurred even for just a day as a couple, this coveted "exclusivity" should not remain out of context... ...better, at this point the Ionian beaches are better served by fast roads which also offer the possibility of visiting equally beautiful adjacent places. The sea (became) crystal clear (or almost) after 10.30 (and we are at the beginning of June)... A few too many discharges which did not make it deserve the maximum rating!

    Stunning beach
Gorgeous beach, crystal clear water. An absolute joy to swim in ! There are chair & umbrellas at cost but well worth it. Kiosk nearby and a public area to park it if you like .

    beautiful
Beautiful beach to the east of the fortress but better that to the west. Crystal clear water, little fish, evil, that nibble the dead skin of the feet, someone likes it. behind the beaches, via stairs of many steps, you reach the panoramic terrace of the old town where, it is spectacular to see the sun setting behind the island of Stromboli.

Being Sicilian, every year we look forward to returning to Tropea to immerse ourselves in its wonderful landscape and crystal clear waters that always leave us breathless. This corner of paradise in Calabria is a must for those who love the sea and natural beauty.

The view, with its mix of imposing cliffs and white sandy beaches, is simply enchanting. We highly recommend admiring all this from the boat: the view from the sea offers a unique perspective that makes the beauty of Tropea stand out even more.

You can not resist the temptation to dive into those clear and regenerating waters. It is an experience that recharges the soul and that we recommend to anyone who wants to spend time in a place that looks like something out of a postcard. Tropea is a destination that conquers us every year and that we will continue to visit with pleasure.

Tropea is truly a place kissed by the Gods... tropical sea and cool climate compared to other locations in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Nopi we were there the first week of July and the temperature did not exceed 28 degrees where in other locations further north as Maratea and Praia a Mare there were 32-33 degrees. There is always a sea breeze all day and the weather is not very humid... at least in the period when we were there. The second thing that makes it spectacular is the beautiful old town overlooking the Convent and the beautiful turquoise sea. All coupled with local specialties such as Tropea Red Onion and Nduja with which a wide variety of traditional local dishes are seasoned. We were also surprised by the cleanliness of the streets and tourist areas and the large amount of English and German tourists... you could hear almost exclusively English. So no queues in shops, establishments and tourist clubs... but maybe this is because it was only the first week of July!

The main city beach (Spiaggia del Cannone) with crystal clear sea also boasts a suggestive glimpse with the cliff of the Sanctuary of S. Maria dell'Isola which dominates the bay.

Naturally (and inevitably) very crowded in high season, because it is a small beach, it still remains a must in the resort!

Immediately precise... crystal clear sea... there's no question! The problem is the beach, it's free, but it's practically impossible to place even just a towel. This problem, together with the rather high cost of the private beach, meant that we only went to the aforementioned beach once, choosing other "less crowded" ones for the remaining stay. In any case, the sea of Tropea is not in question

That Tropea was beautiful is known to everyone, but that it was really so beautiful I did not imagine it! Ha superato tutte le più rosee aspettative!!! I made an excursion starting from the Ionian coast and already, along the way, you could appreciate the view and the promenade of the Tyrrhenian coast, with clear sand and turquoise sea. Characteristic, along the way, the stalls with hanging the infamous red onions of Tropea, sold at a cost of only 1.50 euros per kilo, when they are usually sold double or triple.
It is counted among the most beautiful villages in Italy and deserves it all!!!! The old town is very nice, clean and well maintained. It is very pleasant to walk through the streets and get lost among the many shops of the village. A must-see is the cathedral inside the historic center, which combines in a single architectural structure two different styles: the central nave in the Byzantine style and the side one in the Baroque style. Two churches in one, one of a kind. The central street ends with a panoramic terrace, with a crazy view, from which you can admire the sanctuary of Santa Maria dell’Isola on the sea and the entire coast. You are enraptured by the colors of the sea, an intense blue to rhyme astonished, and the light color of the surrounding beaches. Se siete in Calabria non potete non fermarvi a visitare Tropea! Rimarrete piacevolmente sorpresi!!!

Certainly among the most beautiful beaches in Italy especially for the suggestive panorama both from sea and from land as it is located right below the city and below the sanctuary of the Madonna a mare.
There are both paid and free parking spaces which obviously fill up quickly.
The cove near the port is also very pretty and is located right under a large, very suggestive cliff.

That is to say that it is true that parking is very expensive 3€ an hour in October but also it is true that you can park up and down on foot, it is not close but in the meantime you take a walk. In October we also found parking near the beach without paying. That is to say that the beach was not crowded although it was 30 degrees. The sea is a spectacle of nature. The beach clean and the beaches open. Price of 1 umbrella and 2 deck chairs 20€ .

You can park near the beach (at high costs) but you have to go there early in the morning to find a spot. The white sandy beach is relatively small and obviously super crowded. Presence of beaches and possibility to rent pedal boats. The sea immediately deep is a fantastic blue. The breathtaking view. You can see all of Tropea with its Belvedere where thousands of tourists overlook and on one side the Sanctuary of Santa Maria dell'Isola. Wonderful!

The beach is small and overfilled, at least in August. The sea is beautiful but did not fully meet expectations. Maybe going there in June or September is something else....Excessive prices for umbrellas and sun loungers

The main Tropea beach offers two undeniable assets. First of them is a wonderful view of the city and its specific little church on the rock called Santa Maria dell’Isola. In fact, the whole coastline is tremendous. The other asset is a shadow caused by the rocky hill right above you. On the other hand the beach can be quite crowded (especially during the weekends) and count with the paid parking in case you are coming by car. If you don't mind walking, you can definitely find a non-paid parking place somewhere nearby or in Tropea. Just be careful - when you park by the blue line, you need to pay. There is also a small bistro with coffee and snacks. For a less crowded beach (not applicable for the weekends) head for Spiaggia della Contura just behind the Tropea port. Or in case you can travel by car or train you can visit Michelino beach in Parghelia or a very long one in Marina di Zambrone.
