This is a typical Umbrian hill town. It looks great from a distance. You can drive through it and even park inside the wall but the streets are tiny so its best to park out of town and use the funicular. You can wander round, look at the stunning views and visit the cathedrals/churches in a couple of hours and still have time for a leisurely lunch. Well worth a visit.

A big comfortable square in the heart of city that everyone congregates around, like the living room of the city. Get a cup of coffee or gelato and lounge a bit.

In Todi on a family reunion visit; the Piazza is worth seeing if you are in Todi. Some good shops around the Piazza.

Todi was a lovely medieval hilltown with lots of vicolos (alleys) and archi (archways), but I was so disappointed to see senseless huge sculptures standing in the central piazza in memory of an artist who died recently. They are so ugly, not compatible with the rest of historic architecture, and above all, no one can sit by them because the dumb things are made of Corten steel full of red rust. I really hope the city government will get rid of those as soon as possible.

Piazza del Popolo in Todi Italy is not very crowded peaceful and well worth the time to spend a leisurely 2 hours strolling the streets and getting a pizza. The church was interesting.

We are supposed to have the most beautiful medieval square in Umbria if not Italy. It is our main tourist attraction. Let's face it... There are no other great masterpieces in the town...so... Let's put a ball court in the middle of the square complete with bleachers...Sports fans will love it!!! The town closes up for two hours or more from 12.30 until after three. Even the tourist office is shut from 1 to 3 pm. This town is doing everything it can to discourage tourism.

Todi is a typical Umbrian town built on the high ground. The main square is the beating heart of the town, there is a large paved open space dominated the cathedral and city Hall. It has great ambiance with outdoor restaurants to enjoy a Cappuccino or full meal.

Best parking is large lot below the Western rampart located on Viale di Monesanto. It has a free funicular up to the main town and the view from the top is spectacular. It is a 10 minute walk to the Piazza del Popolo but one can hail one of the three wheeled taxis.

The piazza is at the top of the hill and if you walk you can treat yourself to a meal, a drink, if elate or pastry because you will have earned it. Otherwise you drive to the car park and ride the funiculare to the top. A spiderweb of streets and alleys surrounds the piazza with opportunities to eat and shop. The cathedral is there as well as the Todi museum. It has great viewpoints of the valley for photographers .

This is the heart of Todi. Beautiful medieval buildings, surrounding this outdoor space. Great cake/ice cream in the gelateria on the corner of the square beside the cathedral. Good place to sit and watch the world go by.
