A lovely long walk to get to this castle, but well worth it. We learned much about the time period along with enjoying incredible views from every direction.

Particularly the views along the way and in the castle are breathtaking. The museum itself offers a glimpse on the difficult relationship between Italy and Austria in the 20th century. Equally interesting is the story about the castle and how it came to be. Well...More

We could see this castle from our hotel at night so we decided to check it out. The road to the West of it, from Lagundo, was very fun and scenic on our motorcycle and we were able to park right at the front door...More

The neighbours and history were not always kind to Tirol and it's people, still they kept their pride, language and culture and today they present with great fierceness the traces of their agitated past.Perfect setting in this castle that was the heart of their nation...More

Very historical castle overlooking Merano, it does take some effort to walk to. The interior(museum) is good, but not great. There is very little English captioning so the audioguide is helpful. The chapel was the highlight for me.
