It is an amazing experience to see work carried out hundreds of years ago and see the skill and craft that went into it. This is an important exhibition featuring many artifacts from the local area and placing them in an historical context. There is also a section on items recovered from churches that were destroyed in the recent earthquakes. Make sure to watch the videos in this section.

Museo Nazionale del Ducato di Spoleto is located in the Rocca Albornoziana, it details the history of the Duchy, the Longobards, a Germanic population spanning from the IV to XV centuries. The museum collection is spread out over fifteen rooms displaying statues, paintings, mosaics, sarcophagi, other funerary pieces, maps and more. The museum is a peaceful place to visit, I must also note that there are plenty of exhibits with descriptions in English. Our visit was covered on the Spoleto Card which we considered good value as it allowed us to visit a selection of other paying museums in Spoleto.
