Baia del Silenzio.. We visited this place in September and due to Covid entry to the beach is limited. Day before we arrived at 09.30 and it was already full so we werent allowed to enter. We were told to arrive arrive earlier than 08:00. Today we arrived at 07:00, there were already many people on the beach. We watched the sunrise. By 08:30 they closed the entry. Theres a designated place for all visitors so once you’re in its really pleasant and worths every second of waking up early :)
Its a small public beach, better come prepared with your umbrella and stuff. There are restaurants and bars around.
If you’re in Liguria , do not miss this amazing spot!

We visited the bay a few time during our stay in Sestri Levante. Being a public beach it gets busy even off season, yet it’s very beautiful. Worth visiting early in the morning or later in the evening to take pictures or a drinks at one of the bars around the area

This is a true gem in the Italian Riviera. Sestri Levante has such charm and peas exuding from its many little sidestreets and cafés. The bay of silence is a quiet Cove with stunning beach and little hotels dotting the area. On the opposite side which is within walking distance is a Nother long stretch of beach that can also be accessed for public use. Very easy to take the train from neighboring areas however make sure you know what train you are taking as the information desk here is not the best. We were told to wait at one platform by about five different people including the information desk and had it not been for our own commonsense we would have missed the last train leaving as we already missed the train we were supposed to be on. In any case the shopping and restaurants are very plentiful and affordable however make sure you are aware that they do have a siesta throughout most of the mid day so anytime after noon till about 4 o’clock the shops and some restaurants may be closed.

Sestri levante is a small town located on the Ligurian coast at the beginning of the cinque terra . 30 minutes from portofino by the autostrada running through endless tunnels along the Ligurian coast .
It's mainly used by Italians who know a gem when they find it .
The bay of silence is hidden when you arrive . Hidden by a ring of homes from the 7th and 8th century ! When you walk through the alley ways and arrive at the bay , the splendour takes your breath away . Fishing boats bobbing , hotels cut in to the cliffs and a turquoise sea . The best being the Helvetia. Where you can wake to the breath taking view every day . Restaurants through out Sestri where the prices never shock but the flavours and smells do .
A hidden gem , unspoilt for centuries . For those searching for romance be it for a day a week or life , you won't be disappointed .

Initially we missed the Bay of Silence having spent a few hours on Sun Beach. There are two beaches in Sestri and they are chalk and cheese. Sun beach is set up for parasols and sun loungers, beach games and the crowds. The bay of Silence is more sedate and relaxing. The clear water is warm and clean all enclosed in a beautiful bay. Can't wait to return.

I think it's selfish of me to not recommend this place to tourists but gosh this place is for locals and I'd like it all to myself.

Have read that beach gets very packed in the summer, especially on weekends. We are driving through and would like to stop for a few hours to enjoy the beach. If necessary, are there beach lounges for rent? Are they difficult to rent if we don’t book in advance? All suggestions are appreciated.

Recommend taking a foldable chair or beach towels if you're lucky enough to find a spot in this popular but rather crowded beach during the summer months.

È possibile portare i cani?

Buon viaggio,
Walter.
