Reford Gardens. One of Canada’s Premier Garden DestinationsThe Reford Gardens/Jardins de Métis are recognized as one of Canada’s outstanding gardens. A national historic site, they were created by a passionate gardener and plant lover, Elsie Reford, between 1926 and 1958. Visitors to this verdant domain of more 200 acres can admire the splendours of some 3,000 species and varieties of native and exotic plants displayed in fifteen gardens. A dozen sculptures by contemporary artists are discovered as you walk the pathways and traverse the gardens.

Spent the day exploring these beautiful and inspiring gardens. This was a full day of enjoyment including lunch. The international garden was really diverse and included interactive displays and thought provoking experiences. The tour of the home was very interesting and provides much insight into earlier days and how the gardens were created. Great day!!

Do not skip this activity whilst on your passage through the Metis area! Enjoy the beautifully arranged gardens for a peaceful walk and a beautiful collage of flowers and plants. Not particularly flower enthusiasts ourselves, we left the gardens with a sense of wonder and calm sitting back in our vehicule to pursue our Gaspesie roadtrip!

I've been waiting for years to see these gardens and they didn't disappoint. We got a lovely warm day, the gardens were in bloom and it was all topped off by a fabulous meal at the restaurant.

We visited in the first week of July when the peonies were at their best. What a fabulous garden this is!! It is beautifully planned with colours and textures layered on each other. A sight for anyone who is a garden enthusiast! It is worth a special trip to see.

What a peaceful place to spend time, enjoy beautiful flowers and just smell all the wonderful garden scents! As if it wasn't enough, we had the most extraordinary meal I can remember! Starting with the flower spoon! Yes! a tasty spoonful of flowers to taste! And of course, since it is a garden, it will be changing all season long!

This is a truly amazing attraction. The gardens are spectacular but the history of the gardens, the family that developed them and other family connections of the current owner, all with deep Canadian roots, make this a fascinating glimpse into early Canadian history. The gardens themselves are truly beautiful and although it is early in the season, they were well... More

This is a wonderful place to visit if you like gardens. Make sure you give yourself quite a few hours to see all that there is. The house and the information about the Reford's was very interesting and definitely something that you should see. The dining room was close for a function but looked great. There are areas of flowers,... More

On our trip to Gaspe we stopped at the gardens after hearing so much about them over the years. I myself have 5 acres of groomed gardens with Professional gardeners so I enjoy exploring other gardens. First thing that surprised me was to see how popular they are with the tourists and locals. we actually bumped into people that we... More
