Reford Gardens. One of Canada’s Premier Garden DestinationsThe Reford Gardens/Jardins de Métis are recognized as one of Canada’s outstanding gardens. A national historic site, they were created by a passionate gardener and plant lover, Elsie Reford, between 1926 and 1958. Visitors to this verdant domain of more 200 acres can admire the splendours of some 3,000 species and varieties of native and exotic plants displayed in fifteen gardens. A dozen sculptures by contemporary artists are discovered as you walk the pathways and traverse the gardens.

We were here in early June. While it was obvious to us that the gardens will be gorgeous in a few more weeks, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit - about 4 hours to amble through the gardens, tour the house and enjoy lunch on the...More

For $22 entrance, you can stroll across a very nicely laid out English garden along the river, my favourite part. Once you reach the pavilion, the layout is more French inspired to align with the Fleuve. First visitors of the season, vegetation was not completely...More

We visited this outdoor garden in late fall. The gardens utilize outdoor setting and perhaps tries to show a more natural environment than say, Kingsbrae or Butchart. Although an additional temporary display was interesting, on the whole it was a bit underwhelming.

Beautiful gardens set throughout a forest setting. Took about 2.5 hours to wander through most of the site. Pleasant way to spend a warm day.

Having heard about this garden for years we were delighted to have an opportunity to visit it during a trip around the Gaspe region. It did not disappoint. We spent a happy three hours discovering its pleasures.

Having booked brunch onsite which was accompanied by a wonderful musical duo, and then a garden visit, we were left amazed at this astounding location. This is of national/international quality and not to be missed.

I agree with the above comment but I also recommend you take some time to have a wonderful lunch at the Villa Estevan located within the gardens. It's really worth it. They only serve lunches... And it's delicious...
