We arrived by bus in Selva, and were lucky to spot a free shuttle service (only available till 11am?!) from the center of town to the Dantercepies base station (spared us a longish and steep walk!). The Dantercepies lift took us high up into the mountains (there’s an intermediate station, but you remain seated and continue further up), and we began walking in the direction of Rifugio Jimmy as the Pizes de Cir appeared before us. We also enjoyed the wonderful views of the Gardena Pass from up above. The hiking route begins from near the rifugio, and we began to climb taking in the views of craggy peaks and rock formations as we approached the summit. However, there were a lot of loose stones and we found ourselves ill-equipped in our sports shoes for the slippery trail, and decided not to continue further and retrace back to the hut.

Clean, fast and modern cabin style lift with the option for mid and top station departure points.

On the edge of Selva, easily accessed using the Summer Bus from Nives Square, or walking from the centre of Selva, which is fairly steep at times.

Basement houses a mountain bike shop for hire and repairs, with washrooms on the lower ground floor.

Gives access to panoramic views of the Sella Group mountain range, towards Corvara and down into the Passo Val Gardena as well as climbing and black walking routes to Refugio Puez and famous peaks. Chairlift into Passo Val Gardena from the station at Dantercepies. Superb strudel and hot chocolate in a modern, relaxed and contemporary hut with facilities for mountain bikers as well as walkers/ skiers.

The walk into Selva on route 654 is steep and not that pleasurable, after delightful alpine meadows.

The walk to Jimmy's hut takes only 20-30 minutes, with stops for photographs, and is worth the short descent for great outdoor sunny seating, complete with sheepskin rugs and loungers. Internally smaller more intimate seating. Quite a buzz about the place.

Start of walks and a further chairlift towards Corvara

Relatively new cable, is situated on driving a steep hill with some limited car parking spots in area. The whole day (8 to 17) is 6 eur per car, and after 13.00lt becomes 3 eur.

I’m just not sure about the reason of why I’m rating a CABLEWAY. Yeah, a cableway. I could write a review of the Sellaronda too but it’s so long... Good cableway. The one in Plan De Gralba is better.

Today Dantercepies shut. Dunno the reason. This Sud Tirol is going to look like South Italy. Black out, hiccup power, overcrowding. I don't know if all the money spent are worth.

The Dantercepies cable car is currently out of service for a major rebuild. Both the lower station in Selva and the top station are surrounded by cranes and construction work. Hourly capacity will be increased from 2200 to 3000. The shorter lift from the top station down to Passo Gardena is also not operating in summer 2013.

When it IS in service, the cable car is a great launch pad for the walk via footpath 2 to Rifugio Puez, then continue on path 2 before descending into Vallunga on footpath 16. A fantastic but strenuous 9-mile day walk from Selva. Allow 6-8 hours.

We used this lift as a walk we did mentioned using it. However we realised after we could have caught the free bus from Selva to The Gardena Pass & the got the lift form the pass up to the same spot for a third of the cost so beware.

Great cable lift, fast, newly, going to the top where you can start ski back to Selva or toward Corvara.
Maybe a good tip about the lift is that it has a garage below , and few sport shops.
On the top is a nice restaurant with great view!

After our ride up to Ciampinoi, we came back down to Selva and waited for the shuttle to take us to Dantercepies. It has lovely views of the Sella ranges and valleys. There is an intermediate station and then you can continue up. For the first time I was seeing such craggy mountains and I could not take my eyes off those massive rough cliffs. There is a restaurant but we didnot go there as we wanted to walk around. Last August we found beautiful flowers all around. As we roamed a lady comin towards us had just had lunch at Jimmi Hut and recommended it. About a 20 min walk.
It was so cosy and full of people, yet they found a place for us to share a table with another couple. On a sunny day you can sit outside an enjoy the views. We visited in Aug 2017.
