The old town is a mix of old and modern buildings with very narrow or wider streets. There are nice and unusual shops and the bars are varied and lively. A real surprise considering that the city is not well known on the tourist trail.
Darsena area is full of nice, high rated tripadvisor restaurants. Eat here and you will not get disappointed. Relaxed and vibrant atmosphere and Italian spirit are normal here. Admire big cruise ships entering the port - they are really a great to look at.
Most foreigners would only come to Savona to board a cruise ship but they should actually spend some time in town. It is not as full of attractions as Florence or Genova, but it certainly has some interesting buildings, lovely churches and athmosphere
The best Savona can offer, its old centre!
Walking in the old street called by the locals "caruggi" (carriage roads) will bring you back a few centuries.
