Great cycle path, which runs right next to the sea from Ospedaletti to San Lorenzo al Mare. Great for families and there are lots of places along the line renting bicycles and 4-seater pedal cars. Being an old railway line, it's almost completely flat and passes through tunnels along the route. It gets very busy in the summer, and the occasional 'peloton' pass along very quickly considering the amount of young kids so keep an eye out. Great restaurants in San Lorenzo, and brilliant ice creams at the gelateria in Arma di Taggia which is along the road, though the ice cream is a couple of minutes detour towards the seafront

It’s been many years since since I rode a bike, but as the saying goes you never forget! We hired bikes from hotel and rode 13 miles to St Lorenzo alone a disused former railway line, converted into a bike track and totally safe for even novice or inexperienced cyclists. Then we turned around and rode back and then 5 miles in the opposite direction. The track is very flat and is an interesting route following the coastline and with long tunnels to cool you down from the heat. Take a picnic or stop at the shops, cafes and bars along the route or park up and visit the beach.
This is the only decent attraction in Sanremo, ironically the track out of town!

My husband and I rented a 4 person bike, and we put our 4 and 6 year old kids at the front. We rented the bike on the bike path right at Corso Mombellow, and we rode the path for about 30-45 minutes (each way). We finally arrived at a rocky and somewhat deserted beach that was gorgeous. This activity is also okay on a hot day because you ride through this very long tunnel, which they make interesting by posting historical facts/pictures about the Sanremo bike race. Kids loved it.

Definitely the best bike path we've ever experienced: fabulous views, quaint villages, cafe options along the way, specific bike & pedestrian lanes. Makes for an adventurous day trip from Nice to Sanremo. Check out SuperBikes in Samremo for excellent bikes, reasonable prices, and fantastic service. From Sanremo to San Lorenzo, it was appx 15 miles roundtrip. (note - maybe perception, but it sure felt like the return trip to Sanremo had more uphill than downhill sections!)

There are a couple of places to rent bikes right on the path (Area 24) , but we rented higher quality bikes from www.superbikesanremo.it and rode the Area, along with the Poggio and Cipressa. The bike path was very enjoyable - easy grade, beautiful scenery; the tunnels were something different and fun. We traveled in early June and it was not very busy. There were a couple of places to stop and get a drink or a gelato. We would recommend this bike path to anyone who rides bikes.

The Giro d' Italia will be using the path for a team time trial on the first stage in 2015 so it will certainly be well maintained for that event.

Highly recommend SuperBike San Remo - very close to the path in downtown San Remo; excellent service and bikes.

This bike trail goes on for 20+ miles thru towns and natural areas, and long tunnels too. It is a tremendous delight to go biking and see the beauty of the area beaches, mountains, towns. You will see a lot of new places to explore, public swimming pools, restaurants on tiny beaches, etc.

Bike huts are at many points along the trail. Reasonable prices.

Cycle for roughly 24 km along the beautiful west Liguarian coast, passing by the city center of small typical marine towns as Arma and Riva Ligure and the city center of Sanremo, the biggest city in the area.

Safe, flat and with a scenary view on the sea, the cyclng track has been created over the ancient railway.

You can borrow bikes at different points along the path. Consider a whole morning to discover everything, a little more if you want to indulge for brunch/lunch.

If you do not know what to do and you are bike addicted this is for you!
No car, so the road is very protected. Amazing activity for the families with the childrens.
Rent a bike in San Remo the less expensive 3€ only need to leave a document and enjoy the ride. Restaurants during the road, good places for watch the sunset. You can make a pitstop at the beach. Highly recommended

Normally when you are in at some coast you need to rent a car or make a long walks in order to find great sea views. Not more here. You could rent a bike and ride it just along the sea and stay and relax whenever you want. Consider that this road isn´t for somebody who wants a very difficult reliefs with long climbs, this is much more a relaxing ride, but offers some stunning views and perfect relax over the sea
