About
The Rolle Pass (Italian: Passo Rolle) (1989 m) is a high mountain pass in Trentino in Italy. It connects the Fiemme and Primiero valleys, and the communities of Predazzo, San Martino di Castrozza and Fiera di Primiero. The pass road was built between 1863 and 1874, when the area still belonged to Austria. The pass lies within the Parco Naturale Paneveggio - Pale di San Martino.

A beautiful place. We parked at Passo Rolle (with great difficulty, it took us about 1 hour to find parking and we arrived around 11:30) and we took a pa walk to the Segantini refuge. A spectacular panorama, where the Pale di San Martino meet meadows and paths. Absolutely to do if you are in the area.

Easily accessible by car and then venture into endless walks to beautiful landscapes. The scenery that opens from the Segantini refuge onwards is fantastic.
Don't be fooled by the shuttle bus to get on. The forest road is comfortable but long and uphill. But the paths are easy and much shorter. Walks and save

Even during these cold periods, there were many hikers that parked their cars and walked. We found that the lack of washrooms and water fountains were not ideal for hikers.

We loved the amazing views up here and despite unknowingly choosing the same day as the Giro d'Italia and therefore taking 3+ hours from Vicenza rather than just over 2, we thought it was well worth it! Just would like to go back again have have a little longer so we could do some hiking. Anyway, a lovely little village with breathtaking / awesome views. It also has a little cafe and a couple of gift shops.
We then dropped down to Malga Rolle where we sat to eat our picnic lunch amongst the crocuses, with the mountains ahead of us!!

My first day in the dolomiti and we went to Passo Rolle as you can ride gondolas and chairlifts to the top. Breathtaking views and an amazing history about the brave Italians who fought in WWI to keep this area Italian!

Really a breathtaking vista. Still snow covered the mountains are splendid and a sight to see. The roads were fully plowed and access was easy. Definitely a must see.

We were on a whirlwind tour of the Dolomites and drove through Passo Rolle to get to the gorgeous town of San Martino de Castrozza. It was a beautiful drive with hairpin turns and stunning views. There are guardrails along the steep drop-off parts, so the drive wasn't scary. Except, the roads were overrun by motorcyclists, usually in packs. They drove too fast and were always eager to pass us, sometimes around blind corners.

Passo Rolle is easy to reach from Veneto flat land, by bicycle 🚲 or by car 🚗. It is a gate to the Dolomites. Nature, not too crowded. Bella vista. Have a break in Simon’s Stube!
