The visit to this spiritual site was transformative. The Black Madonna and other religious sites were my reason for this visit.
A most treasured memory.....
Thanks be to God....

With the Collegiate Church it is the most important and significant monument in the country and is in fact a sort of (small-scale) copy of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem and the Marian Shrine in Altötting.
Built between 1633 and 1653 by a local innkeeper (Georg Paprion), devout and returning from a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, this characteristic complex of two chapels testifies to the great Catholic faith in the Baroque era.
Admission is free, but I would like to point out that (at least in the period we visited it) opening hours are limited (on Wednesdays and Sundays 10-12 and 16-18).
Therefore, if the complex is closed, Recommendation to contact (0474/913149) the San Candido Tourist Association for further information, or any changes to the opening hours.
