Every year, starting on the winter solstice (the pick being 22/12) and up to first week of January, every day at 11:00am, the shadow of the civic tower overlays perfectly the belltower of St.John's church creating a perfect, fleeting, new monument... Magical...

From the street there is just a door in a wall. Inside however is a magnificent convent church. A very unusual feature is that the street is considerably higher than the church floor so you enter at a level above the altar.
We were staying at the hotel attached to the church so took the opportunity to visit several times. It was invariably empty and a haven of peace and quiet.
However there is more to this church than the building itself. A small door, easily overlooked, leads to some beautiful cloisters.
From the cloisters you can enter the convent refectory and meeting room. Just be bold and open doors.
The adjacent hotel serves drinks and snacks either in its reception area or in the cloisters. There are also public toilets in the hotel (entrance from the corner of the cloisters).

Is my favorite church in Saluzzo. Nestled in the heart of the old town, is a must see, starting from its entrance, a long stairs that brings you down, to the frescos on the left, to the grand altar and finally the cloister.
One of my favorite books is "The pillars of the Earth" of Ken Follett and every time I enter that church, I am immediately projected into medieval times. If you enjoy Ken Follett, medieval time or simply beautiful churches, you cannot miss it.
One word of advice: as said above, the church has few steps that lead into its entrance, so persons with disabilities (e.g. wheel chairs, crutches) or a parent with no company and a child in a stroller might want to enter from the cloister (whose entrance is situated few meters ahead of the church, on the right hand side walking downhill).

This seemingly modest church hides at its interior a magnificent chapel in a Burgundian gothic style. Be sure not to miss the small lizard on the right column of the left door!

One of those places that grabs you the moment you enter. So much to look at and take in and a real feeling of antiquity and atmosphere. It is a beautiful old church with wonderful wall paintings, which are best described by photographs, as they demand a lot of attention and some are very graphic. A must see place if in Saluzzo, on a par with the nearby wonderful museum.

The Church is really fascinating... Dark and moody and oozing with ancient history. A monestary used to be connected to the Church and the old garden is very nice. Asit happens, I was married there and have special feelings for the Church.

This church is lovely, but we hadn't checked the opening times and 5 minutes after we entered, a priest arrived and told us to leave as they close 12 sharp!
I advise you to go to the tourist office on arrival, as they have a very useful fact sheet where there are all the opening times of the main attractions.
The altar is spectacular.
