Until February 25, on the second floor of the castle it is possible to visit the exhibition "Photography is woman" which presents 120 works by photographers from the Magnum Photos agency, from the post-war period to today.
Of the 18 authors present, 12 are women and this explains the title of the event. The female gaze on the world has its own peculiarity, which can be felt starting from the photos of Inge Morath and Eve Arnold: it is more delicate, more respectful, more careful not to hurt the subject represented even at the expense of the scoop. This can be seen from the comparison with the "male" works in the six sections into which the exhibition is divided. Through the shots of different generations, origins, authors and languages, the changes in life and customs of the last seventy years flow before our eyes.
The explanatory panels that introduce the various sections are effective and the captions under each work are useful, but, if you can, choose the guided tour, which is very appreciable.

While researching my ancestors, I discovered that Tomasso I Marquis di Saluzzo, who built the original part of this castle, was my 23 Great Grandfather. Unfortunately, it was closed when I got there - only open Sunday afternoons while renovating.

We recently visited the castle in Saluzzo. The children (14,10,8) had a wonderful time. We really enjoyed the wolf exhibition and the medieval section of the castle and the English information was so informative. The prison was interesting however we didn't understand a lot as there was no English translation in this section. Would recommend a Visit here if in Saluzzo.

A building that would be interesting if you could visit it without being forced into endless exhibitions. The one on prisons would be nice if there were a tenth of the writings. Leaving aside the part of modern art, the part about the Middle Ages is once again verbose and there are only copies. The castle cannot be seen.

Don't loose ti visit the Old Castle offline Saluzzo. Get these TripAdvisor:

1. Discovery the history of its architecture and walk where the prisoners' guards worked until the Castiglia was a prison;
2. Visit the museum to discover the ancien prisons;
3. Visit the museum dedicated to the cavaliers and get the whole history of the marquise;
4. If you like, there's a museum of contemporary art.

Everything is new and multimedial, wonderful!

Nice museum where you can learn about the Castello when It was a prison. It's really attractive because you can visit the cellars . On this part of the museum, you have a little bit translation but then everything is in italian, it's a Pity.
Also, the museum shows "l'époque des chevaliers".

For me this location was a real discovery, also because Saluzzo is a beautiful town but in truth it is derailed from the classic tourist routes in Piedmont.

The massive building dates back to the 16th Century and after various transformations was used as a prison that operated until 1992.

Then a careful restoration transformed it into a beautiful and modern museum; today it houses three different exhibitions: the Museum of Prison Memory, the Museum of Chivalrous Civilization and a rotating exhibition area. In particular the first is truly unique.

Consider that it takes at least two to three hours for the visit.

For a very low cost you have three different uses; wide opening hours and free parking in front; young and kind staff; small but interesting book shop; it's worth the trip!

They call it a museum but it really isn't at all, it's just a fake cartoon depicting stories and characters of the time but there's no historical artefact it's all fake, really wasted visit.
The prisons were renovated with very bad taste, then they put up horrendous mannequins and then I would say that putting a mannequin on a rope to show that some prisoners were hanging themselves I would say it was a squalid demonstration.

The Rocca, in the upper part of the city,
contains two interesting talking museums: of prisons and chivalrous civilization. Seeing the cells and hearing the stories of different characters related to the prison is a rarity. The museum of chivalrous civilization has very suggestive choreography in the rooms.

Visiting Castile is challenging, partly because of the size and partly because of the heat that accompanied us all day. Interesting part of the cells, well maintained.
