About
Cantina il Poggio is a winery located inside Tenuta il Poggiolo, a 28 hectares estate. We produce both still and sparkling wines from our traditional grapes such as Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, Barbera, Bonarda and international varieties like Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. During the the visit we show the vineyards and the winery, explaining our winemaking techniques. Finally is possible to taste all the different wines we produce (from sparkling white to oak aged red)paired with traditional local food like 30 months Parmigiano, our extra-virgin olive oil, Prosciutto crudo di Parma and Culatello di Zibello. The Tasting takes place in our characteristic tasting room, that used to be an helicopter hangar, with a stunning view over the vineyards and our green hills. To fully enjoy the visit is even possible to take a walk through the vineyards and the olive grove to our private lake, and witness the magnificent scenario of our landscape.

We really enjoyed our visit to Cantina il Poggio today. We absolutely loved the atmosphere, people, the view, and especially the delicious wines. The staff was very passionate about their wines and had put much effort in the tour and tasting. We definitely recommend to visit this place, you wont regret!

What a wonderful experience! We spent a couple hours with Mattia learning about the land, the process and of course the wines. He was such a pleasant and knowledgeable guide and full of passion about his work. We were very impressed with how he told the stories and presented everything. We also loved the feeling of a private tasting as we were the only ones during our appointment. We have two young kids (5 and 5 months) and they were welcome too…our son very much enjoyed the 30-month Parmigiano Reggiano Mattia served with the wines. It was truly an unforgettable experience and are very happy we were able to enjoy today (and take many bottles of wine, olive oil and marinated olives with us to enjoy in the future). We will definitely come back and recommend this to anyone traveling in the area who loves la dolce vita. Grazie a Mattia e a Cantina Il Poggio. Alla prossima!

Excellent tasting and tour! We went with only 2-3 hours notice and they agreed to receive us very warmly. The explanations were interesting, the wine was very good and the food perfectly paired (plus it was actually enough for a lunch both for the adults and the children).

We ended up aquiring multiple bottles of wine and olive oil and it was one of the highlights of our tour through central Italy. If you are in the area of Parma it is deffinitely worth a visit.

If you drive there, decide in advance who will be the "serious" drinker and who will be the "reserved" taster because they are quite generous with the wine quantity during the tasting (we tasted 8 different wines).

6/5 if I could!
Beautiful scenery.
Really good wine for all tastes!
Lucas was really friendly yet took the time to explain everything, share his passion and answer all our questions (boy we had a lot of them ... 🙈) .
It was a really nice experience ! Would do it all again in a heartbeat if I’m come back near Parma.

We came here by chance after reading the reviews and getting a recommendation by someone. Although we didn't have an appointment we were welcomed warmly and offered the chance to taste a variety of great wines.

Although Luca (I think that was his name) had another group to serve, he managed to explain to us the variety of wines they produce and gave us a lot of information about the area and its traditions! He was very friendly and knowledgeable and spoke very good English.

The tasting consisted of at least seven different wines (from sparkling white to sparkling red to flat white and flat red) and even included food (olives from their gardens, cheese, bread, olive oil, etc).

The tasting is 20€ per person (considering the amount of wine and even the food you get this is a really good price). It is free if you buy 60€ worth of wine per person afterwards. The prices of their wines surprised us, they were really affordable and definitely well priced.

If you are in the area definitely call them for an appointment (or try to come by and see if they are free). It is absolutely worth the money and time, it was a great experience! The view itself from the tasting area is worth a visit!

Last 2 wines of 7 were tasty, the others almost all sparkling we didn’t like that much. Food was good. Per person you pay 20 Euros or you buy wines and other things above 60 Euros per person. I personally find it quite weird that nowhere is mentioned who the owner is.

Dear friend, I personally find weird, in a review about winery tour and wine tasting, complaining because "is not mentioned who the owner is"; if you strongly wanted to know the name of the owner, you could have simple asked and the staff member would have kindly answered the question. Regards

I will be short; do not hesitate and book your own wine-tasting; we tasted 6 different wines and were also offered a lot of olives, cheese, Parma-ham....lunch was not necessary anymore😀.
Tasting costs 20 euro, but is for free if you buy for more than 60 euro, which is not an issue as some wines are really nice, surely the Poggio red wine.

Filippo and Riccardo were great! And entertaining. The wines were fabulous, especially the Il Poggio. A few bottles came home in our luggage. The food was also very good.We were a little late, but they hung with us for over 2 hours talking wine, Italy, and whatever else, until the next group came - also late. Definitely worth a visit.

Cantina Il Poggio is a beautifully located winery. Got to taste 7 wines. They had all the time for us. Really friendly people. We also got to try parmezan cheese, ham and olives. Highly recommended for a visit!
