The small Chapel to Saint Barbara (m 625 – h 1,45 from Riva del Garda), was built in 1935 by the miners who worked on the conduits of the Ponale power plant. It is placed in a horrid and daring, yet panoramic position, on the slope of Mount Rocchetta near the start of the penstocks feeding the hydroelectrical plant. The Chapel is visible from afar thanks to nighttime lighting.

shortish walk to the Bastion on well maintained path, recommend coffee before tackling the very steep climb to Santa Barbara. Looks impossible from ground level. Not long in distance but very steep

Despite the long walk/trek up to the top the views are most definitely worth it. The climb to the top is difficult in places and I recommend walking boots or walking trainers. It is in the shade so regardless of how hot it is the walk itself is not completely in the sun. The ground is loose in places so... More

Church itself is nothing outstanding really but it's a nice climb and views are outstanding so overall worth the time and effort.

We saw something on the mountain and fought - is it possible to reach it. 2 hours later, me and my wife, sweaty, exhausted, thirsty, but very happy, were in Santa Barbara. View is amazing. You can see about 5km clear. Amazing life experience.

On the way up to this church is a café which you should use either on the way up or down but be warned this walk is not for the fainthearted .It is loose gravel , steep and no evidence of a handrail . But well worth the walk .

I consider myself a fit hill walker and this is a tough walk so don't under estimate it!. The view half way was better at the Bastion as its restricted at the top so while I enjoyed the achievement of reaching the Church don't do it for just the view!

There is a totally magnificent place...Relax, peace and the amazing Garda lake view! Perfect place for meditation. The road there is not so easy, but if you have comfortable sneakers, the path definitely will be like a pleasant walk:)
