The small Chapel to Saint Barbara (m 625 – h 1,45 from Riva del Garda), was built in 1935 by the miners who worked on the conduits of the Ponale power plant. It is placed in a horrid and daring, yet panoramic position, on the slope of Mount Rocchetta near the start of the penstocks feeding the hydroelectrical plant. The Chapel is visible from afar thanks to nighttime lighting.

makes good for an easy to medium level hiker, lookout for shortcuts which add to your hiking experience especially for those who like that little bit more of an adventure. At the top be prepared to sit in silence and enjoy the remarkable view. no potable water at the top. Might be something for Santa Barbara Church administrators to consider... More

Very nice walk with stunning view to the whole city at the end. It´s a normal walk for the trained person, but it might be challenging for the casual tourist. It´s also a great place for relaxation so you should bring some snack and make a picnic when you reach the destination. It takes about 1 hour and it´s situated... More

This walk is not for the fain hearted are unfit. We walked up in a very hot day and l have to confess to finding the steep trek challenging . But once at the top, the views are stunning and well worth the trek. If hot make sure you take lots of water and appropriate shoes.

This landmark is 1.6 miles up in the mountains and attained by a very tough path. Once you start the ascent though you cannot give up and the views, when you reach it, are stunning. Well worth the effort but a good degree of physical fitness and proper footwear required.

A tough climb in the midday August sun ( it had been cloudy when we set off.) it takes about a hour and half to get to the top but the views are fabulous and you will feel a sense of achievement especially when you see it all light up at night, when it looks like it is floating in... More

I rode up day 1 and was so impressed with the views of Lake Garda that I brought the wife and walked up it the following day. It's a relatively easy walk or ride but, can be loose underfoot. From the centre of Riva del Garda it's about 3 miles up to the cafe which has sun terraces, a wide... More

It was a great experience! I should amit that it was not easy, but my husband and I aren't that experienced either. I was about to give up at some point, but I am so happy I didn't. You can enjoy a spectacular view on Lake Garda and roundabouts. Take some water and snacks, that you can enjoy on top!... More

Difficult enough climb with the loose rock. We are both fit and went at a quick enough pace. You might need to go slowly and take a few breaks if you are not fit. Good shoes are a must as it is very easy to slip on the way down. View at the top is amazing and worth the effort.... More

We did this trip the first day we were in Riva and we don´t regret it. It´s a great and not to demanding walk, with an amazing view. If you arrive by car, park in the parking house "Monto Oro" on Monte Oro street. From there it´s a short but fairly steep walk up to The Bastion (takes about 15... More
